RSO contains high levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). It is intended for patients in severe pain or with debilitating conditions. Derived from indica strains, RSO works partially on the theory that through deep sleep the body can cure itself. RSO ranges from 60 to 90 percent THC. HOW TO TAKE RICK SIMPSON OIL The best way to ingest RSO is to place the oil on the lower gum line and let it dissolve on its own within a few minutes. Some people recommend keeping the syringe in the freezer for at least 24 hours and then allowing it to thaw to make the oil easier to dispense. Without freezing, the oil tends to come out of the syringe very quickly. Alternatively, if you find the oil difficult to dispense, warm it in a cup of hot water. RICK SIMPSON OIL DOSAGE Do not take RSO alone, particularly for the first time. As with other edible cannabis products, patients should “start low and go slow,” increasing dosages only after careful use. The label suggests starting with a dose the size of a half a grain of rice, which is about ¼ of a drop from the non-needle syringe. Patients should start with three orally ingested doses per day then double the dosage after the first week. After about a month, most patients find benefit with one gram per day. Patients will likely feel RSO’s effects in 1 - 3 hours. Depending on how the patient feels from ingesting one small drop of cannabis oil, adjust the next dose slightly up or slightly down. When taking RSO, the patient should plan to stay at home for the treatment. Some patients do not like RSO’s taste. If you find this to be the case, you can put one, small drop of RSO on a piece of bread to make a dough ball and swallow it as you would a pill. RSO is a potent, very powerful medicine. It must be treated as such. Medical marijuana affects everyone differently. Start with the recommended dosage, increasing only if the patient does not experience negative side effects.
