Watch This: Zack Galifianakis Smokes a 'Joint' on Real Time

Taken from an episode of Real Time With Bill Maher that aired in November 2010, Zach Galifianakis and a table of panelists are discussing CA Prop 19, which would have legalized cannabis in California. Everyone’s putting in their two cents about the issue and doing their best to one-up each other when, out of nowhere, like the man of principle he is, Zach G. whips out a joint and lights it on national television.

…Or at least it appears he does, but after I did my googles, I saw that he in fact did not have a real “marijuana cigarette,” as the other side calls it. Apparently it was just cloves or something, but that does not change the intention. The message was clear. Zach, I too hope to one day live in a world where the host and guests of TV shows can light up whenever they so choose. I’d actually get cable back for that. (Maybe. I don’t know. Nah, probably not.)

Also, I’d like to give a shout out to the woman in the red-orange jacket. She’s obviously down for the movement as well because she couldn’t stop laughing at everything, which makes me think that she miiiiight’ve been a little high herself. (Allegedly.) You can also tell that she definitely would’ve smoked that joint had it been the Real Deal Holyfield. Either way, salute that woman.

Bottom line: Zach Galifianakis proves that not all heroes wear capes; some wear satchels and baby backpacks.
