Frequently asked questions about cannabis clones
Some plants, not just weed, can be cloned by creating a new plant out of a cutting of an existing plant. Typically, the end of the cutting is dipped in a substance to help roots grow, then cutting is planted. Learn more with our clone weed growing guide.
The main benefit of using clones is you can skip the seeds and germination process which can add another layer of risk and uncertainty to growing. With seeds, it is harder to tell what strain and more importantly, what sex, the final plant will be. You don’t want male plants making your buds full of seeds! Since clones come from mature plants, you can be more certain of the sex and strain of the final crop.
In general, clones are legal in states and territories where growing weed is legal. Check out our weed legalization guide for more info.
