Cherry AK-47

9/26/2021
Was actually really disappointed in this pheno after not having AK-47 in many, many years. I was looking for a hybrid that leaned on the sativa side for a daytime smoke for my chronic pain, sadly the local dispensary stopped listing terp and even THC content on their menu because I would not have bought it for this purpose had I known my batch would pack 1.5% myrcene! I get a small amount of fruit when I smell, but I mostly smell hops and even looking for cherries, I can't find them in there. Now I get that the strain isn't ideal for what I was looking for, but I will say it fell flatter for me than most anything has in a while. Now if im willing to drag out big bertha and go nuts, I can indeed get myself to a nice medicated state that is primarily cerebral, but the sedation from the myrcene leaves you just wanting to lay around, not really a good strain for getting things done in my opinion. I will say its claim to fame may be it's ability to not induce sleep with it's terpene profile... it may be very useful for people that need something heavy in the head for anxiety or nausea during the day without being overwhelmed with somnolence. I was plenty able to go about my daily tasks, but it wasn't because this strain was energizing so much as you just don't seem to have the burn out crash and the AK genetics seem to overcome the myrcene to keep you from sleeping away the afternoon. Personally, I have a long list of symptoms cannabis helps, but i noticed I was having to use about an extra 1/3 to get the relief the strain has to offer, and it was to far fewer symptoms than most strains hit. And by then, I'm baked, just not groggy. Also, I felt very little medical benefit compared to other strains, even ones classified as sativa dominant or sativa, as this one usually is. Personally, I could see medical users enjoying this at times they feel like they can relax on the couch for a bit and recover peacefully, not much more and personally I prefer to sleep on days like that. Now my guess - especially comparing my experiences in high school before my injury - would be that this strain would be a pretty forgiving hybrid for recreational users to enjoy without being overly sedating or racy while still producing a very strong, cerebral high. I can't really rate intoxication levels with my constant dosing, but my guess is this would "feel" about as strong as any non-med user would want in a strain. Don't take this as a bad review, I just found the flower disappointing because I was expecting energizing, sativa effects and I'm finding it to be closer to the opposite. Now everyone's different, and this was from a brand I've never tried before and it's labeled "rough cut" although the flower looks fine enough. Just poorly cured and the smell isn't anything I'd hype up, altho the taste is quite pleasant and there is a pleasant fruity aroma to it, I just don't get cherry anywhere and theres so much myrcene it grosses me out (hops.) Honestly, the best use I could think for this strain would be before getting into bed to watch a movie I actually don't want to fall asleep thru while on vacation. It's very mentally stimulating while also being relaxing, but not overly sedating. It has its place, I just don't think it's anything I'd be in a hurry to spend money on again and probably not the first go to for medical users, but recreational users may find this a very "fun" strain! Just don't buy if you're looking for a sativa buzz, its very balanced.

RISE Dispensaries Erie (Lake)

9/16/2020
Dispensary rarely has flower in stock that could be considered "medical" grade. Most of the flower available ranges from 9-18% THC. Slim selection of strains in stock at any given time, if not out altogether. My biggest problem and why I will no longer shop there is twice i a months time I've placed an online reservation for a product, and gotten home to find it was improperly listed on the menu. And it's BAD when it happens. First product was over 3000% weaker than listed, I hadn't cracked the seal and I called the number for the store and got routed to a call center in another state. They told me I could not return it to the store. The kid told me to take pictures of everything and email them to the manufacturer...at which point I had to remind him that this is a Rise screw up and I'm a patient, I don't get paid to fix mistakes like Rise employees. At this point he told me he'd have a manager call me from the store the following day. 2 days later I was calling to ask why I didn't get a call and the same kid said he'd send a memo that I didn't get a call that I was supposed to that day. I asked if this was the extent his power to fix my problem and he affirmed he couldn't do anything else. I finally did decide to burn off my rewards, not planning on shopping with them, I explained everything when I checked out and the kid at the counter was very sympathetic and actually refunded me my money! I figured I was new to the program, maybe I just had bad luck and after some time passed I tried shopping with them again. Maybe 3 or 4 more pickups when what do I find? The 21% flower I reserved is 15%. And there never was any 20+% flower at all. Called the store number again and enquired as to why this keeps happening to me. I got someone real honest on the line and he explained their ordering menu doesn't work right, they're aware, they tried to no avail to fix it a month ago. I was explicitly told I would continue to have these problems as long as I use the website. Unfortunately I was excited when I got home to give my birthday gift to myself a whiff, and I cracked the container open straight away. It wasn't til I went to use some of it that I noticed it was 25% weaker than what I ordered AND paid for. I figured I'd just stop up at the store since the call center gets you nowhere and see what, if any options there were. Obviously there wasn't a lot that they could do with the container opened. They did offer to throw me some store credit, I think it ended up being $10-$15 for a $60 mistake. One thing they did offer that might have helped someone else was apparently I could have exchanged the flower for wax...other than wax just fills me with anxiety. After running thru my options it seemed like the one where I lost the least money would be to just take the jar home and let it sit unused. At this point I asked for permission to just leave it with them since I knew I'd just be reminded of my frustration that day every time I saw the container, and they obliged. So that's how much this dispensary can get under your nerves. Enough to just leave the $60/8th garbage they gave you after they falsely advertised it as being decent flower. Happy birthday, self. Screw Rise.
