Sunnyside Medical Cannabis Dispensary Philadelphia – Chestnut Street
8/17/2022
This has been my go-to dispensary for over a year now. I usually visit once or twice a week. I have always had a nice experience there and the people rock.
However my experience today was the complete opposite. As I arrived i was asked for a form of ID with my medical card. Normal practice and I use my passport as ID. I have used this many times before at multiple dispensaries.
The girl at the from desk (Jess) denied my passport as ID even though I was there yesterday and used My passport. She was getting a little confrontational and called her manager up to discuss.
The manager (Justin) assured me that a passport is 100% a valid form of ID. So I was able to go inside….However once I got to the counter I was told that actually a passport is NOT valid form of ID and moving forward I need a state issued ID.
I don’t have one in my possession at the moment so I rely on my passport.
Since I didn’t know when I would be allowed to come back inside I stocked up on products for the week and planned to visit my other dispensary if need be ( who accepts my passport).
This has never happened to me before and with proper warning I totally understand that rules and laws change.
I called some other dispensaries (different sunnyside location and zen leaf) they all assured me that they would accept my passport and that no laws or rules had changed. If the law did change why are patients and other dispensaries not being informed?
So I called Sunnyside 12th and Chestnut to let them know that no one else seems to be aware of the new rule.
Jess answered the phone and I explained the situation. When I was finished she said “Sooo…What is the point of this phone call?” I said I wanted to let you know that other dispensaries do not know about this. Then she asked me “If that was all”. That was the worst customer service I’ve ever received. She was blatantly rude to me on the phone and in person. She didn’t want to help and it was so obvious by her response desk and her tone. The phone call really made me upset because I have met some of the kindest people at Sunnyside while being a loyal patient. I felt uncomfortable and disrespected. I asked to speak to a manger on the phone. Justin got on the line and I explained to him about the Passport and then I let him know how plain mean and uncomfortable Jess was. He barely apologized for her behavior to a patient and basically said that’s that. That is the last thing someone wants to experience when picking up their medication.
The vibe was so bad and I will not be coming back to Sunnyside Chestnut street again. I will go to a different Sunnyside location or hit up Ethos on 8th and Locust. They are kinda new and are AWESOME. Every day is they have sales, the shop is beautiful and so are the employees. I really cannot imagine someone trying to make me feel bad or uncomfortable there.
