Cannatonic

12/20/2018
This is first time user review - as in first time using MMJ ever, and first strain. Using an O.penvape 2.0, I started Cannatonic on orange setting (sort of medium, still mild): strong citrus notes, more towards grapefruit/bitter orange than sweet orange. Very pleasant. Tastes a little like a mild take on Citra hops. Recreational users will probably be craving a run to Treehouse for Julius after having some of this. Interesting bit: I turned it down to purple/low, and it tasted more buttery. Also very pleasant. But doesn't draw as well on the low setting. Viscosity issue? Sensation of using this strain, for me, is easier to describe in terms of absence of things. I'm taking MMJ for psoriasis/psoriatic arthritis. The psoriasis always feels like a low grade hum of pain in the skin. The pain hum is G-O-N-E. I was sitting here thinking "something's changed, but I can't pinpoint what", and just realized that's what it was. The second thing I noticed: omnipresent joint pain in small bones in my fingers: it faded. It is GONE. I don't remember the last time I did -not- feel pain in those parts of my hands. I'd literally forgotten what it felt like to type without my small bones hurting. I was using hemp-based CBD lotion (Shikai, I recommend, it's odorless) on my hands before - which assisted with inflammation, but only dulled pain, didn't eliminate it. The combo of the lotion and the vape? Yeah, we may be on to something here. Head/Psychological effects: Feeling calm and relaxed - an absence of the hum of anxiety that accompanies my days. Again, noticing absence of "problem things". This could also be a reaction to the pain disappearing. Around the time I noticed the joint pain had gone, I felt a sensation forward in the head, top of head just behind my forehead hairline, like a warm ball is forming there. The ball started out racquetball size, and feels like it's slowly expanding and melting. So that's nice. ;) TL;DR - as a first time user with chronic inflammatory joint disease, this was a lovely introduction to a valuable medicine. It's a strain that can get me operational in the morning quickly, without leaving me feeling impaired. My head's clear and focused but I can still multitask (not hyper-focused). Emotionally I feel calm and chill, not giggly, and not ecstatic. One thing to be aware of: dry eye. I have another medication that has a side effect of dry eyes, in addition to this. If you're in a similar situation, get yourself a gel lubricant eye drop, like Genteal. CVS carries a generic version. Look for the orange or the red strengths. Use the orange one during the day, and red at night. And don't skimp on drinking water!
