Lux Pot Shop - Ballard

10/7/2016
For whatever reason, this shop has remained my favorite. I used to stop in all the time when running checks for my place of work. The staff are always friendly and willing to share their favorites strains. They have a decent selection, and I really like the feel of the shop, in general. It's very simple, has a good mix of anything you might need, and handy 3-ring menu notebooks you can grab while waiting in line--and there usually is a line, but it's rarely a long wait (just enough time to browse a few pages of the menu, even). tl;dr I dig. Will of course be back, again and again.

Hashtag Cannabis - Fremont

First off, I like how 'open' this location is (inside the door, it's just one large room)--and that there's somewhat of an entry way for customers to get themselves together (get out ID, get cash at the atm, browse catalogs and menus, etc.) before they approach the line if there is one (fairly rare--or maybe I've had luck time) or, more likely, the counter. The staff are always helpful and super friendly. I like the $2 bill business--smart thinking on the owner, and the story behind it is cute,* assuming that it's true. Their selection is not the widest, but I will usually find something that'll suffice :P Bonus: they have a bike rack right out front (and it fits a 700c wheel!).

Have a Heart - Fremont

This was the first Have a Heart location I'd been to. tl;dr I left pleasantly surprised, indeed. When my fiance and I first walked in, we were greeted by a nice gal who kindly told me (as I held my ID out) they only check ID at the counter--a lax attitude which was more than welcome, as most shops I go to are hyper-vigilant about asking for such. We approached the counter, unsure of what exactly our aim was (which has got to be a pet peeve of most people working at pot shops...or so it'd be one of mine..). The gal behind the counter asked what she could help us with, and we asked if she could educate us about 'dabs' as it's something we'd heard thrown around, but were totally oblivious to how it differed from smoking flower. She suggested she come to the other side of the counter, and proceeded to walk around the store, pointing to various display cases and describing the products. She was super helpful in educating us about what kind of mechanisms you need to smoke dabs out of, and how intensely concentrated the wax & crystal (which has a different name...) substances can be. I really appreciated her taking the time, as I'm unsure how it is, working in such a retail environment, where people like us come in asking loads of questions [and most-likely expecting answers]. We ended up going with a 'Blackberry Kush' (https://www.leafly.com/indica/blackberry-kush) flower and a preroll (with a rosin-coated paper). The preroll was wonderfully powerful. I'm excited to try the flower--most-likely tomorrow. While I have had a few favorite shops in the area, I'm glad I took a chance here. I'll most definitely be back.
