Blueberry

9/22/2024
I got a half oz. of some nice Blueberry in Michigan, pretty sure it's the famous Colorado cut from the 90's. Basically there are two big cuts of Blueberry: the original DJ Short Blueberry and the 90's Colorado cut. The original cut is light blue/aquamarine in color and the Colorado cut is a light olive green color, which is what I've got. 27.5% test. The nose is strong and straightforward: blueberry with strong notes of champagne. Under the magnifying glass I see the most thorough trichome coverage I've ever seen, even up close it also looks like it was coated with liquid trichomes. When it burns, it smells exactly like blueberry muffins coming out of the oven, and let me tell you about the buzz: this is by far the strongest and purest indica experience I've ever had (and it doesn't take much). With no sort of head change this blueberry starts working on my body immediately, beginning with a nice floaty feeling that intensifies into a total relaxation of all the muscle groups; at first you move like Gumby, then you don't move at all and get intensely slumped. Over the course of several hours, the buzz morphs and changes on me; sometimes it's like I'm floating, sometimes it's like gravity is pulling me down into the earth, and there's lots of tingling and muscle relaxation along the way. After a couple hours I become like that sloth who takes two hours to cross the street, movement was never such a big deal. I've never had an indica experience like that of Blueberry, my only warning is do not smoke this strain unless you plan on laying down and doing nothing for a couple hours before you fall asleep and have some of the best sleep of your life. Well-grown Blueberry is incredibly strong and potent. This is the ultimate example of a night time indica, it has no cerebral effect so I like to combine it with an indica hybrid like Runtz and these are by far the most potent night time joints I've ever rolled.

Pineapple Express

9/6/2024
This is my favorite daytime sativa. The nose on the flower is a spicy citrus smell that I just love to take in, kind of reminds me of hot cider or apple pie where you have that apple cinnamon smell. The taste is the same, always love it, and it's my favorite daytime sativa because the buzz is strongly euphoric and uplifting while only moderately stony and psychedelic; you're probably not going to smoke Pineapple Express and have your head blown off like it's Chem Dog or Super Lemon Haze, but that's not what it's for. This is a great daytime activity strain; working around the farm, going hiking or bike riding, going to a concert, playing an instrument etc. is what this strain is perfect for. And I love the way my pipe smells after I've smoked Pineapple Express, it's this sweet woody scent that smells exactly like cherry pipe tobacco. This is a certified Top 5 strain for me, Best Daytime Sativa.

The Soap

9/4/2024
So I picked up a half ounce of The Soap back at the beginning of June. Right off the bat, it smelled exactly like the classic bar soap smell and (unfortunately) it also tasted like bar soap. The soap taste is so strong that I had to rinse my mouth out and brush my teeth and tongue to get rid of it, it really sticks to your palette. But the buzz was incredible, it's a very stony yet also uplifting and clear-headed sativa buzz. I theorized that if I let The Soap mellow out for awhile maybe the soap taste would go away, so I put this jar at the back of my cabinet and didn't touch it for a month. When I opened the jar a month later, the soap smell was gone and it was replaced by a strong smell of incense and spices (which I attribute to the linalool backing off and letting the caryophyllene really come forward in the terp mix). And it tasted the same, too - the soap taste was gone and instead it has this delectable spicy/peppery taste that lightly burns my tongue in the right way, this is the first time I've encountered incense terps and I am a fan. And the buzz is still strong and clear, just a very nice sativa buzz that could become racy if you went too hard with The Soap. This might be TMI but I'm a healthy 42 year-old man and this strain is quite arousing for me, it usually hits me an hour later. The Soap is a winner!

Dirty Taxi

9/4/2024
Dirty Taxi is a winner, this is a certified Top 5 strain in my book (I'm a sativa person). But it's definitely not a daytime sativa IMO, it's very stony & psychedelic and it's great for chilling and listening to music in the evening. I am always interested in Chem Dog crosses and this one does not disappoint; if you think about it, Chem Dog and GMO are really a match made in Heaven. Basically it's a strong Chem Dog buzz with GMO terps and a nice relaxing indica component from the GMO. This strain has the oddest nose I've encountered, sometimes it's an oddly sweet smell that reminds me of a Big Mac, other times it's this straight garlic, cheese, onion smell. The taste is straight garlic and cheese, and it burns the tongue like pepper. The joint and my pipe always wreak of garlic and cheese after I smoke the Dirty Taxi, I love this strain!

Greasy Runtz

9/3/2024
There are some things to unpack with this strain. 1. Across the US it is marketed as either Greasy Runtz or Slapz. 2. There appear to be (at least) two cuts of this strain that are grown - one is heavy in pine terps, the other has lemon candy terps. The cut of Greasy Runtz that I got has pure lemonhead terps with gas on the back end; sometimes the smell of the original Runtz comes through, it's a lovely and enjoyable nose. These are the stickiest nugs I've ever seen (not hyperbole), surely owing to the Gorilla Glue in its lineage, with full trichome coverage; I'm sure this would wash well. The smoke is the opposite of the nose - the lemon is more subtle but you taste the gas, and ever so often the delicious and unmistakable taste of the original Runtz strain comes through. The smoke is very expansive and it burns your throat going down; it cannot be overstated how expansive and heavy this smoke is, the water bong facilitates some gigantic hits to be taken in terms of total expanded smoke volume. The buzz is a strong indica-leaner but it's got a cerebral stony side as well, and when I go heavy with this one it hits my head and shoulders with a sledgehammer of heaviness and relaxation. It's nice but it can be overpowering, when that happens I just sit with the buzz for a minute and it's cool. If I sit back and close my eyes with this one, it quickly brings on what I call the "electric skullcap effect"; it's similar to the headband thing but it feels like I'm wearing a toboggan lightly pressing on my head while fingers of static electricity massage my brain, it's really quite remarkable. Sativas are my preference but this is my favorite indica hybrid on account of the electric skullcap, I hope you can enjoy that sometime! Christ Saves.

King Chem

9/3/2024
My quest for Chem Dog crosses led me to the King Chem, I bought a half oz. just on how good the nose was (plus it was on sale). I'm so glad I did. It's classic good-looking weed (reminds me of Runtz), the nugs are dense and very resinous with full trichome coverage, super sticky icky. The nose is incredible - an extremely pungent orange/grapefruit thing with pine in it, too, combining to form a strong sour orange smell with tea tree oil/gas/menthol on the back end. This strain had the strongest nose I've ever encountered - I rolled a joint of it and went downstairs to move my laundry, went outside to put tools away, came back in to make a cup of coffee and, as I went back upstairs at the top of the stairs I ran right into a cloud of that King Chem orange funk, it was so strong and still hanging in the air twenty minutes later! You would've thought I had a pound of the flower sitting out on a table in one of the rooms, my whole upstairs wreaked of orange rock candy and I only had a half oz. in a mason jar that I rolled a joint from. These are my favorite terps of any strain I've ever encountered. And when I smoked the joint, wow - I didn't even make it halfway into that joint and I was blazed. Tastes like it smells. This stuff hit me very hard very fast, there was a little cerebral feeling but it hit my body first with some light muscle relaxation; this indica aspect of the buzz came on fast, but it didn't much have much hang time, and then it settled into a stony and euphoric cerebral sativa buzz that gets downright psychedelic if you go harder with the King Chem. I classify this as a potent night time sativa hybrid; it has the uplifting aspects of a daytime sativa but it's also very stony and psychedelic, and the indica aspect also intensifies if you go harder with it. This is one I want to smoke when I'm home for the evening, a guitar playing/listening to music/watching a movie kind of strain. Right now it's tied with the Dirty Taxi to be my favorite Chem Dog cross, this is a connoisseurs' strain and I wish it was more popular (so more companies would grow it).

Super Lemon Haze

9/2/2024
So legal rec went live in Ohio a couple weeks ago and this was my first legal purchase, picked up some SLH at Ohio Cannabis Company in Piqua just this afternoon, grown by Butterfly Effect. I've always wanted to try Super Lemon Haze and I am not disappointed. This is very nice weed, it's a nice light green color with big, pointy red hairs and a dry, sugary texture to the (ample) trichomes. I can see the Haze in the genetic lineage because the hairs have that kind of equatorial landrace sativa look to them that is reminiscent of old pictures of Panama Red that I've seen. The nose is sharp lemon and pine with tea tree oil on the back end, as well as a general spicy citrus smell ala Pineapple Express or Jack. It's very pleasant, like a lemon-scented cologne instead of a chemmy Pine Sol type deal. I've had bad experiences with that lemon-pine terp combination but definitely not this time. I celebrated my first legal nugs in Ohio by going hiking, it was sunny and clear with a nice wind. I suspected SLH would be a good day time sativa and I took one big hit before I hit the trail, I was off to the races. It had a nice lemon taste and I was uplifted, euphoric, and giddy at first. The wind felt really nice on my skin as a nice buzz manifested in my brain; no significant muscle relaxation or any heaviness in the body, as I was hiking at a good pace, and the Super Lemon Haze had me feeling magnanimous and slightly dreamy instead of laser-focused. Later in the hike my head felt a little swimmy and I got that old feeling like my head was a balloon floating away, I'm 42 and that hasn't happened since the first time I got good weed in high school for a Creed concert in the spring of 2000 lol...that floaty feeling was a nice hike down memory lane for a minute. Later on at home I smoked the rest of the bowl and played guitar for a couple hours, had a great session. Bottom line: I love sativas and Super Lemon Haze is a new Top 5 strain for me, I think it's one of the best strains to come out of Europe. I only had one hit when I went hiking earlier and that was all I wanted, so I think that (for me) SLH might be a little strong to be a regular daytime activity strain (and I've been smoking for 25 years), so for morning or afternoon activities I would want a more mellow sativa like Pineapple Express or Jack Herer. But I love SLH as a late afternoon/early evening guitar playing/listening to music/watching a movie kind of strain; I wish I could go back in time and have a joint of Super Lemon Haze at every concert I ever went to, it's very high energy and uplifting but it's also very stony and psychedelic. I would caution against smoking SLH too late in the evening as well, as it could overstimulate your mind in a way that most hybrids and all indicas will not.
