La Mota Southeast Portland

La Mota is pretty good. Their employees are excellent. Very talkative, attentive and nice. The product is above average and at a decent price point. The employees are very well versed in the different products they carry and are very knowledgeable. They are able to recommend strains for you and allow you to see and smell what you're looking for. This place totally needs some art on the walls or something, cause it's just white walls and bright fluorescent lights. Other than that, I would shop here again when I'm in the neighborhood.

Cannabis Nation Beaverton (Blooming Deals)

This place is just OK. Lots of strains sold out, which is understandable being one of the few places in Beaverton. This is the fourth place I've gone to in the metro area and the first place that's been sold out of any strain. The employees are nice and talkative, but not super helpful at helping you choose a strain. Also, when I was there it wasn't first come first served. The employees let Medical customers skip in front of Recreational customers, no matter who got there first or how many Rec. customers are in line. Every other place I've been to operates like any other businesses on a first come first served basis. Needless to say the product is just average. The strain I bought wasn't flushed well enough. Hopefully more dispensaries will open in Beaverton, but for now it's pretty slim pickings. I will never shop here again, ever.

Now that retail has begun in Oregon, depending on where you live, you have a lot of choices. Based on recommendations from reddit users, I decided to come here first. Now, for those of us that have been border shopping in WA, shopping here in OR is a different experience. In WA, a lot of times you don't actually get to see and smell the product. There's also a serious lack of customer service at some places in WA. Calyxes is a completely different experience. It's insanely pleasant. Their staff is extremely helpful, willing to answer your questions and just all around good people. In WA everything is pre packaged, so there's that feeling of just being sold another product. At Caylxes, your purchase is placed in small Mason Jar jam jars, which you are encouraged to reuse on your next visit. My only complaint is the distribution method. The bud tenders are very quick and efficient, but the method of using chopsticks to take nugs from giant jars is just woefully inefficient as a whole. Yet that's what makes the experience so much better. It shows that this business wants to interact with you, not only selling you a product but selling you on the quality of their product and quality of service. They're quite proud of what they've cultivated and they should be, because they've got some amazing product to sell you.
