Super Sour OG
2/16/2020
Super Sour OG had been a strain on my bucket list for quite a while, and I ran into it first on the weekend of February 15-16th of 2020.
With its impressive genetics, with parent strains OG Kush, Blueberry, and Sour Diesel, Sso has risen to be an extremely well-liked strain.
I managed to get a 32.28% THC cut of the strain by Urban Pharms, coming in small, compact buds glittering with sweet THCA trichomes.
SMOKING THE SUPER SOUR OG ON FEBRUARY 15, 2020
The night I bought the strain, my girlfriend and a mutual friend of ours all and I got together to test out the new bud.
Earlier, when I smelled the strain for the first time, to say the smell surprised me would be an understatement -- it smelled undoubtedly of horse feed (weird, right?)
When a buddy of mine and I unpacked the smell a little more earlier that day, we noticed earthy undertones, and almost in a weird way a hint of psilocybin mushrooms. Both my girlfriend and our mutual friend enjoyed the smell of the earthy strain before I ground the bud, and after the grind was completed out wafted a far sweeter and richer version of the smell -- it was truly fantastic. Every time I smelled the bud I enjoyed it more than I did the last time.
I packed the sticky and moldable bud grind into the bowl of my bong, and upon the first hit I experienced a pop of herby flavor. This strain is as savory as a bowl of beef stew, full of herb and spice flavors, giving it a wonderfully earthy taste on the exhale. On second hit, I got a really strong hint of cinnamon and, more subtly, ginger. The taste did diminish somewhat quickly as the bowl burned through, but its strong flavor should be preserved more efficiently in a joint.
The effects were rather delayed in this one, both when I tried it here for the first time and then again when I did later. However, there was a strong rush of euphoria at the start of the high, almost like the beginning of an MDMA roll.
The euphoric effects were classic -- we all took turns playing songs of our choice (Ariana Grande, Elton John, Peach Pit,) and then my girlfriend started reading aloud the funniest G. W. Bush quotes and we all laughed until we cried. As we walked to the store, my friend reported to me some psychedelic effects as well, as she reached into her bag and felt as if every particle in her hand was touching things of all different textures.
The high was pretty easy to deal with -- not very inebriating or hazy, but extremely inductive of empathy and love. After we went back and watched an episode of Inkmaster while having very little conception of what was going on in the show, my girlfriend and I split off and went to mine. While we did have some ~fun time,~ most of it was just spent holding each other, talking, laughing, and showing each other memes and videos of cats doin weird stuff.
Great day.
SMELL: 8/10
Earthy and herby, but also with a hint of some gassiness/rubbery smell.
SMELLS LIKE HORSE FEED IN A GOOD WAY
Rather odd at first, grew on me immensely.
FLAVOR: 8/10
The herb and spice flavor pops in this strain, as well as some of the more chem-like flavors found in the Sour Diesel.
EFFECTS: 9/10
The effects came on rather slow at first, beginning with a buildup of euphoria. I've tried very few strains which have affected me like this, and none which have had such a strong wave of euphoria. Because it's a hybrid, it was able to give me the best of both sativa/indica worlds.
