Story Cannabis - McDowell Rd

I had been looking for a new dispensary since my usual place slimmed down their menu. I came across Nature's Medicines using the Leafly app and I was impressed with both their low prices and huge menu so I decided to make a visit despite not being familiar with the area where they're located.
Location:
It's easily accessible no matter which direction you're coming from. The building is well-lit, looks secure and the availability of parking spaces seems adequate. It's definitely in a rougher-looking part of town, this is probably the kind of place best visited by car as opposed to walking or taking public transportation.
Inside:
The interior makes you kind of forget the outside because it's a much nicer atmosphere. They took some care to make the indoor space warm and inviting and it shows: they have coffee, comfortable seating aplenty, a big screen television for entertainment and another one just for the menu display. I hope they paid the designer well because the decor and paint colors really give the space a sense of refinement. Also, they have restrooms that were made for customers—it's not just a storage closet with a toilet and a sink. The medicine room can be a bit crowded but they do try to get as many patients in there as they can so the line keeps moving.
FTP Experience:
My first time at this dispensary was a delight. The check-in process was extremely easy, quick and smooth. The receptionist was polite and informative. My budtender that day was Johnny. I initially thought he wasn't going to be the best person to help me with my medical needs but, boy, was I wrong. He was very familiar with the products and went into detail about their characteristics, effects and medicinal uses. Johnny had some solid customer service skills. He was polite and knowledgeable and friendly. Not once did I feel rushed or confused, he even gave me some insights on the strains based on his personal experience. He's definitely a person you want budtending for you when you go in, trust me.
2nd Visit:
My second visit to Nature's Medicines was less remarkable than the first. It was a Sunday afternoon and I expected there to be a lengthy wait time. Parking was still no trouble at all even on a busy day which is always a plus. The wait time for this particular day was about 40 minutes. The time passed easily since they had the game on and enough comfy seating for everyone. It was also raining that day so that makes you appreciate the hot coffee they provide as an extra treat. My budtender that day was Rafael. He seemed kind of bothered that I didn't know what I wanted right away and any questions I asked were responded with a vague answer. Not to mention, he was sick and it was obvious. I lost count at how many times he sneezed or wiped his nose with his hands. Take a Sick Day, broski, nobody wants your germy hands manhandling their medicine. Although it was a less-than-stellar experience, you can be sure I'll be back.
3rd Visit:
My third visit to Nature's Medicines was by far the best. This last experience outshined the previous ones and improved my chances of becoming a regular patient here. It was during the middle of the week in the evening. Parking was easy, as always. There was about a 20 minute wait time. My budtender was Shamar (or Shimmie from what I was told by the receptionist). If I could recommend a permanent budtender, Shimmie would be my guy. He not only impressed me with his thorough knowledge of the various strains but he projected a sense of friendliness and professionalism that made me feel immediately comfortable and sociable (which isn't easy because of my anxious nature). With Shimmie, I simply had to tell him what activities I enjoyed while medicating and he highlighted several strains that would possibly be a good fit for me. In the end, I went with his recommendation and chose a flower that he felt strongly about based on his personal experience—you could say that I let him take the wheel and, let me tell you, he did not steer me wrong. Kudos for Shamar!
(Note: Shamar is the reason I went from a three-star Service rating to five stars. Yes, his customer service really was that good and I want that to be recognized.)
Overall, this is a decent dispensary. You will find a wide selection of products that are well-stocked and of high quality. They do not, however, have a loyalty or rewards system which means your dollars don't add up in points that can exchanged for goods or discounts. That's not a major bummer, though, since the prices here are the lowest that I've seen for top shelf medication such as this.
One final thing to comment on: I like to call dispensaries before making a first-time visit just to ask some questions, and Nature's Medicines has always had a receptionist available to handle incoming calls. Other places require that you leave a voicemail because they're so understaffed. This might be of little significance to most people but it's something that I thought was worth mentioning.
