Super Sour Diesel

10/21/2016
What a beautiful strain! It's potent, the lift and drop are gentle, and the peak is strong, steady, not overbearing. It's one of the longest-lasting highs I've encountered among the strains I've tried and reviewed. Sometimes I'll do a second burn on the same bowl (I vape the first time on a lower heat setting, and then vape hotter the second time), and the second burn is almost as potent as the first. 1/8g or less is good for 8+ hours of intense-yet-mellow head rush - not too time-warpy, but definitely cerebral enough that it checks all the boxes for a good high. The taste matches the smell - lemon, pine and earthy/petrol notes are lovely in the nose and gentle on the throat. I'll gladly get more of this one when the time comes to restock. 5/5

J1

8/30/2016
My score for Jack One is less about the quality of the high and more about how it compares to the hype and to other premium-grade strains. After trying it 4-5 times, I've concluded J1 produces a very nice, reasonably strong high. But it's not the first thing I go to when I have other premium options. Right now, I have GSC, GG4, Blue Dream and J1 in my jar, and I'll go for the GSC or GG4 before the J1, which is on around the same level as Blue Dream for me. It doesn't creep much; I feel it pretty quickly after I've started, and it has a nice, rounded effect - slowly builds up, peaks, and slowly drops down. The high is gone around 3-1/2 - 4 hours after 1 bowl. It's woodsy and citrucy, very easy at medium burn temps, but it gets harsh when you turn up the heat just a little. I experienced mild-to-moderate munchies - nothing overwhelming, which was nice. I will never say no to J1; It's good stuff. It's just not as good as its hype and doesn't stand out amongst its high-THC peers. I pay $65 for 1/4 of GG4, $70 for 1/4 of GSC and $90 for 1/4 of J1, making it a low-value purchase. I'll smoke it and enjoy it all day, but I can't justify a high rating. 3/5

GG4

8/30/2016
GG4 caught me off-guard in a few ways. The buds are like nothing I've seen before; much more leafy than I expected, when I first received mine, I was worried I might have gotten some cheap shwag that would resemble parsley after grinding. I gave it a rough grind and vaped it. 15 minutes passed, and the effect was so mild, I was convinced I got a bag of ditch weed instead of the premium foliage I was expecting. That's when it started to shift gears. I felt it concentrate in my head in stages: 2nd gear, 5 minute plateau, shift to 3rd gear, 5 minute plateau, shift to 4th gear, 5 minute plateau and finally it shifted into high gear. At that moment (about an hour in), the high trickled down into my body. My head, neck, shoulders and chest got tingly in a nice, relaxed way. It never left my head, it just spread about a bit. After a couple hours, the high concentrated back in my head, and it dipped down to about 1/2 - 2/3 strength, where I enjoyed a nice glow for another hour or two. The effects were surprisingly long-lasting, and for the couple hours peak time, it was as good quality as any high-grade premium I've tried. The smell and taste are consistent and pleasant - piney and earthy, my batch is rather lemony as well. What I thought would be my least favorite strain (or possibly ditch) ended up being one of my favorite smokes yet. 5/5

GSC

7/28/2016
It's difficult to overstate the quality of the GSC high. There's no creep - onset comes within 30 seconds of first contact. The rise is steady, it peaks right when it should, and the buzz maintains for 4+ hours with a gentle, steady drop back to a slight euphoria that stayed with me the better part of the day. The best part is that I felt like I was completely myself the whole time. I wasn't exactly clear-headed, but 1-1/2 hours into the high I was at a small dinner party, and no one had any idea (confirmed the next day by my wife). My brain went into autopilot and I operated flawlessly. The taste is mild, earthy, and my particular batch was a bit lemony. Every high should feel this good. 5/5

Blue Dream

7/22/2016
I expected Blue Dream to be similar to one of my favorite strains Mango Dream (see my review on MD for a comparison if you'd like), since they share some similarities in lineage. It is similar in some ways - nice cerebral high and the expected sativa energy boost without any couch lock. But it is different in many ways as well. There's a bit of creep; onset takes 5-10 minutes, so be patient and don't overdo it upfront. It's also a more clear-headed high, without the amnesia effect or heavy time-bending I've experienced with similar strains. It has a pretty wide shelf/plateau - I have not overdosed yet, which is a plus, but the effect isn't very heavy when it does peak (I prefer the peak effect to be a little heavier). The smell and flavor are mild - slightly sweet, slightly skunky, slightly citrus. It's a smooth smoke that doesn't irritate my throat, a definite plus. I get a solid three hours out of it before it's effectively worn off. A little longer would be nice, but it's not bad. 4/5

Lemon Haze

7/5/2016
I was eagerly anticipating the arrival of my Lemon Haze. When it finally arrived, I rushed inside, discarded the packaging and tore opened the stealth. This was my first mistake. It was like getting punched in the nose by a skunk spraying lemonade out of its stink sack. I actually had to close it tight and open it gently a second time to keep from being overcome (and this was just a 1.6g tester)! Once you get accustomed to the smell, it's quite pleasant. The smoke tastes exactly the way you expect, given its smell, except the lemon notes are stronger than any of the pungency. I did a rough grind and popped it into my Arizer, and that's when I made my second mistake. I set the temp to 4/7, let it heat up, took three long pulls and waited. Nothing. I waited 15 minutes and fired up it up again, this time with the heat at 5/7. I took three long pulls, and wham, instant rush to the head. I took a few more and shut it down. The lesson is that higher heat appears to be the key to fully unlocking this strain. This one is all in the head. There might be a little indica hiding away in this strain, but it's not coming out to play. I felt it entirely above the neck. I had plenty of energy, my body felt great and the munchies were a non-issue. It plateaued about an hour in. My only complaint is that the high is on the short side, 2-3 hours at best. If I top off every couple hours, it keeps on going for a bit. But the cool-off time is fast. It felt like I came from a strong buzz completely down in a matter of minute. 4/5

Mango Dream

7/5/2016
Mango Dream is one of my favorite strains. Maybe it's the power of suggestion, but it does indeed taste sweet and tropical, a nice smooth smoke. The effects are immediate; I can feel my head start to "shift" before my first exhale. This one gives me moderate amnesia and low-to-moderate munchies - it's really not a big appetite booster, but it makes me horny as hell. My wife LOVES me on this stuff! I get 4-6 hours on a strong dose. It's a quick rise/plateau, a nice, steady ride for a few more hours and a gentle return to earth. I felt energized, but not at all paranoid or jittery. The nugs were remarkably dense. 7 grams took up less than 1/2 my scale. They were sticky and fresh. 5/5

Afgoo

7/3/2016
My preferences tend to be more sativa than indica, but I took a gamble on a 1/2 oz of Afgoo, and generally speaking I haven't been disappointed. This one is a creeper; it takes me 2-3 minute before I feel it working, and 10-15 before it starts to show its real potential, making dosage a little tough to gauge. It leaves me relatively clear-headed, with a pronounced body high - not quite couch-lock, but don't plan on a trip to the gym. Instead, plan on a trip to your kitchen - powerful munchies! I made oil out of it (50% ABV / 50% fresh decarbolized). It was a little on the weak side (I only used 4 grams). I mix 15 ML at a time with some nice cherry/pistachio/cream flavoring and create a thick VG e-cig juice. The flavor is fantastic. You can fill a small tank (I have a dedicated Kanger Nano) and puff away for hours. The one thing I found is that the tendency to get sleepy near the end of the high is even stronger in this form. Either you keep your high alive, plan on a short nap, or use after 8pm and drift away at the end of your session. It's a hair on the short side for me. After a moderate-to-heavy dose, at 3 hours, I'm back on the ground. After 3 1/2 to 4 hours, and I've shaken off the cobwebs completely. 4/5
