Sour Diesel

9/19/2011
Dense, round nugs with heavy trichroming, a light green hue overall with rich, dark green accents. Looks incredibly thick and crystallized with medium coverage, thin orange hairs throughout. Fairly pungeant with strong, soily citrus notes. Upon grinding, it is still just as richly pungent, with increases in the aforementioned scents along with the addition of a bready, wheaty aroma. Basically reminds me of a good hefeweisen. Very light, sticky texture with the dark green accents blending into the light, mossy majority. Consumed from a glass waterpipe the smoke is notably thicker and earthier than most with a satisfying smolder in the lungs. Nice airy body high and forgetful attentiveness are features of this smoke. As soon as you get half way through one chore you start on another that you just remembered. One of the most solid, pleasant, stereotypical products I've ever burned.

Hog's Breath

Extremely dense, darker greens and oranges than most strains. Definite hints of purple with medium-heavy thrichroming on the outside. Some citrus hints, fairly non-aromatic, however but when it's broken down the citrus flavor bursts from where-ever it's been hiding with some pine notes and something that reminds me of breakfast. Hog grinds down a little bit dusty and dry but maintains a fairly nice texture. Though flecked heavily with dark purple and green it's most noticeable visual feature when ground is how orange it is. Consumed from a glass pipe, the smoke is mellow and toasty. The taste is just slightly on the citrus side with lemony notes becoming more apparent in the finish. Nothing too nasally notable beyond that. A good base smoke but fairly uninteresting. Hog has an immediate and wakeful body high with little couch lock but a lot of red-eye. Very good if you know you just want something to burn and work on or maybe do some exercise but not much more. Not my favorite smoke.

Blue Dream

Acquired from Santa Cruz Mountain Naturals, this batch is incredibly dense with a mellow, grassy, blueberry muffin and grapefruit aroma. Probably a great smoke before breakfast. Dense. So dense as to be almost hard to the touch. Trichromes glitter on the surface attractively against the army green of the leaf. Med sized orange hairs cover the surface fairly abundantly, moreso than is apparent in other strains. Ground up aromas erupt like sending a lawnmower through a blueberry patch. The smell is absolutely mouthwatering. To the eye, the ground up flower is fairly plain and fluffy, lacking any hints of purple leaning instead towards a pleasant, uniform green throughout. The texture is just right, not too dry, not too wet, sticky enough to notice but not enough to make it a pain to roll up. Consumed from a glass pipe, the smoke is surprisingly lacking in blueberry until the finish. Tasting more like watermelon, roasted almond and mowed lawn, the smoke is light and satisfying with no rough entrance or exit. Blue Dream lacks the typical immediate head rush and couch lock of most Indicas and favors the recipient with more active waves of body high that make you want to write a novel or do something nice for your girlfriend. An excellent activity smoke although not particularly strong. Turn out it would be GREAT to pair with breakfast.

Cheesy Purps

9/5/2011
A Lavender/Cheese hybrid from Santa Cruz Mountain Naturals, this pungent strain reeks of lavender with strong fruit flavors - blueberry and grape in particular. It is colored a rich, medium green with lush, purple nodes. Very heavy coating of trichromes and sparse med-sized orange hairs array the surface. A little dry to the touch, it has a nice pillowy texture with so much trichroming it feels fragile to the touch. Broken down, the fruit notes burst and subside leaving a strong lavender aftermath. Purple becomes a dominant color emerging from the center of the bud. The texture is still pleasantly dense but, again, a little dry. Consumed from a glass pipe, it tastes as wonderful as expected and accumulates in a strong head buzz with extreme couchlock. The flavors are strong and slightly acidic, ranging from flowery and rich, to a slightly zesty orange finish. A smokey aftertaste remains in the lungs post-exhale in wonderful fashion. Red-eye soon ensues. Unfortunately the dryness becomes readily apparent as the major fault in this particular batch as it burns quite quickly in spite of smoking quite well. One of the best strains I've had yet in spite but comes up lacking in at least one respect.

Lamb's Bread

Extremely savory smell, not as fruity an aroma as the indica varieties I've tried but pungent with nutty, spicy and flowery notes. Very light and fluffy to the touch (the name Lamb's Bread is fairly apropo). Med-light green hue edging towards yellow with heavy trichroming like wool over the surface. Med-large orange-red hairs cover the surface sparsely. Aroma opens up greatly after grinding. Flowery and "farty" (in a good way) with some sour, skittle-esque notes. Aroma dissipates surprisingly quickly. Very fluffy in texture with great internal trichroming. Shaping up to be one of the best visual and tactile strains I've come across. Consumed from a glass pipe Lamb's Bread burns evenly and has some nice spicey/wheaty flavor with subtle skittle and citrus undertones. A not unpleasant band-aid and clove finish is nice to ruminate on as the body begins tingling. Very nice "get out and do something" strain which makes me want to do just that. Particularly strong body high makes for a nice introduction to sativa strains. Major red-eye though. MAJOR red-eye.

OG God's Gift

Extremely light and fluffy, great texture though not particularly sticky to the touch. Rich dark green, sparse but large red hairs, very little reddish or purple hints to the leaf. Med-high aroma with grapey, juicy, blueberry notes which only increase upon grinding/breaking up. Very nice aroma. Fluffy when broken up, very soft and nice to the touch. Med. hue, rich green. Smoked from a glass pipe, blueberry, pine and a very slight cheese(?!) note, very light flavor, some piney/lemony notes but not too strong. Very nice head rush to start with accompanying anxiety relief and horniness. Not a particularly lazy smoke, could easily go for a run or hike. Very forgetful/spacey, though.
