Sunnyside Medical Cannabis Dispensary - Leicester

Talk about pent-up demand!!! I heard that their were lines, but this was crazy on a Tuesday morning?? They were incredibly well organized to deal with demand. You are directed to off-site parking then shuttled to dispensary. Heated queue at parking and also outside dispensary, but that queue still had a line outside. Eventually they let groups go inside to another queue. This moves fairly quickly as they had lots of “bud tenders”. They all seemed relaxed, and were helpful, I was a little stressed from the 90 minute drive and the hour wait in line. They said that wait could be 2 1/2 hrs. on weekends.
The product was a little dry, but I don’t think that effected quality. The biggest problem was the demand was outstripping supply and they were limiting purchases to 1/8 flower, one rolled, and some edibles. It says two 1/8’s on web, but again they are trying to satisfy everyone. You can go back through the line, but it means another hour of wait time. They need to provide real time updates, as customer expectations are the area where they need help especially to accommodate long distance drivers( there were license plates from all over New England). I checked their website, Facebook page, and even called ( almost impossible to get through), and was not told about 1/8 limit until I got to counter.
Prices were high $60 an 1/8, but THC content is on all product.
You can’t underestimate however what it has taken for Cultivate to get this far.
It has been two years since voters decriminalized, and you had a small group of legislators, that put off recreational sales until 7/18 and have continued to drag their feet. So opening at end of Nov. was an accomplishment.
While opponents continue to try to frighten local residents with talk about a attracting a “bad element” it is just the opposite. The crowd was well mannered and a cross-section of new Englanders.
I was surprised that there were a lot of seniors like myself standing in line.
There is an additional 10% state tax on products, which amounted to almost $400,000 ( including sales tax) in state revenue based on the $2,000,000 in sales just over Thanksgiving weekend (not including Thur. ) Hopefully CT. Is not far behind.
