Greenside Recreational - Des Moines

I have had multiple bad experiences here. Most recently, an employee seemed to be hoarding a joint testing higher by offering advice that one should get "one of each". He attempted to say I should buy some rating as low as 19% and that the percentage had literally no effect. That is advice that I disagree with based on my years as a medical patient, "chronic"-led on this page. Back then I learned to avoid dispensaries that tried to horde the product or introduce confusion over what was actually testing well. It was the refusal of the employee to give me the order I asked him to follow through with. He refused to give more than two of the joints, going as far as to only put four in the bag. That kind of disrespect is something that I advise against accepting. There are great shops a short drive away that make up for the travel cost through better pricing alone, let alone quality and service.

Unlike other places, I have never had a bad experience here. Never. The staff is friendly, they have deals and they seem like they actually care about customer service and the green community. 4$ joints testing at 28% and flavored... 8 Joints in a Jar, 30$ around 25%. This could barely be found in the medical days. I miss medical more than I can explain, but this shop is not bad. It's actually good. 25$ oil cartridges. Heck, 15$ oils in .3g cartridges. Last but not least, the Cheap Thrills brand.. It isn't just testing high numbers. It gives me effects and I am a big guy. The average stuff won't give me much of an effect. This stuff has effects good enough to be medicinal. Of course, there are other great deals. Lots for 10$ a gram. Plenty of parking. I mean.. Come on. And I'll go right back to what I said about service, because some of these other shops have no clue on how to treat customers. Even if medical were around, there would be reasons to come here. A better recommendation, there is none...

Space Candy

There is a wide variety of color in these buds. There appear to be different phenotypes. Some are green with only a hint of purple, which comes off as a dark green on its hazy, long buds The other is dark purple with orange hairs and dense, fluffy buds. It smells pretty kiefy. When smoked, it gives off a light fruity taste. It is sweet, almost like an apple, almost citrus. I'd add this to my list of racy strains because of its mind-racing, tingling effect on the brain. There is also a physical effect on the body, very relaxing. It's almost like a buzzing. I'm feeling effects with audio too, as far as music and other sounds outside. It feels heavy, but not quite couchlocked.

The first thing I noticed at the dispensary was the color. The buds were evenly almost a pastel green. There was a whitish glow from all the crystals, some of them carried a lavender hue. The buds looked almost iridescent. The tips of some buds carry a dark purple color, adding blackish-purple undertones. The smell is sharp and sweet, not skunky. Fragrant. Light. Right away, I notice the sweet, tart taste. Following that is the taste of fresh soil on the exhale. I thought I tasted earthiness in other strains, but not like this. This one tastes like maybe a soil pie? It's better than it sounds. The effect is setting in the center of my back and the leg muscles. This feels really good on a few old injuries. Music is sounding good too as mental relaxation creeps in. There Is a massaging effect on the head and neck that isn't cerebral like a sativa, but has its own effect. I feel somewhat energized, but not hyper. As time goes on, I think the reason music sounds good is because this strain helps you "focus". I mean, I can hear all sorts of parts of the song. Having said that, it can be distracting, so take the word focus with a grain of salt. Overall, I'd say this strain would be good for a variety of uses. I'll be looking for this when I feel extra sore.

Seatown Sour

Lime green buds, slightly darker green leaves and a gold hue of tricomes. It has a lemon smell, sort of like a sour candy. The buds are long and fluffy, like a nice sativa. The first few hits, I'd describe as a kind of a perfumed diesel. It's not really overpowering me with taste, kind of nice. The taste is hard to describe. It's not as lemony as it smells. Just a slight hint of toasted marshmallow that's a little sour/citrusy. Maybe grapefruit? It's smooth burning, the smoke feels heavy, but doesn't tickle the throat. Sensations creep in the head. It feels more like a body high, like a massaging scalp rub. Now it seems to have leveled off into a more sativa like mind high. Almost tense. Definitely energizing, but distracting... It also does have some body effects, I'm feeling it right under the shoulders where I actually have an old injury. It feels good right now, as it creeps down my spine. I almost feel like I can get sativa couch-locked. It's progressed to a heavy-headed feeling. It seems like an enhancement strain. I'm enjoying the music a little more. Satisfying.

There are a lot of perks here. They open early and even give free joints to early customers. Keep an eye out for the specials where they have a selection weighed out and on display. Ask for recommendations, as usual. I haven't been led astray. If you're shopping around the 10g range, they'll have a few competitive strains on hand for sure. They get to know you here and that's something you might not pick up from the first visit. But this is a trusty little shop. I remember on a certain big holiday, when this shop was the only one open nearby. One product I liked, not sure if they still have it, is the tin of cannabis butter spread. It was one of the best edible products I ever had because I could put it on all sorts of things. They had a few flavors of it too. It also medicated well. So if you live anywhere near the shop, it's worth checking out. See what's fresh and what they're smoking.

Sour Diesel

The aroma is very oaky in its hints, a little like a wine's aftertaste. It's a bittersweet smell, maybe that's where the sour part comes in? Some of the hairs have a slightly pinkish hint, most seem to be amber, barely orange. There are a few shades of green with crystals along the underside making the bottoms of the plants much lighter. I did taste a sort of peppery, fuel-y flavor on the inhale... A little sour as the exhale passed the tongue and in the aftertaste. It tastes better than it sounds, almost like it would taste good with a steak.. I've been working on a quarter of it, in addition to some other strains and it's been a nice smoke. It has been a great strain to mix with. Definitely uplifting, satisfying. It'll make you content to sit back in your seat and let your mind race. You get that sort of interrupted, buzzing from inside where things don't feel like slow motion, but just feel a little... interrupted. You can definitely feel intoxicated if you try with this strain. I can see why some see this as a staple.

I have been going to this shop for coming up on two years. Before I found this place, I was touring a lot, checking out what was around. The cure and variety made this place a keeper, basically ending my search. I highly recommend this place. The ounce I get here tends to last a few days longer than any other shop I've gone to. It may be the way they store the medicine. There are great specials and they tend to gift free medicated drinks! If you need more proof in my faith in this place, I actually drive from South King County to get there.
