Twenty After Four

I had a great feeling about this place from the get-go. It's looks very inviting to go into. It's in a great neighborhood, and its address is #420. The budtender helping me was the only person on my ongoing tour of Oregon's recreational dispensaries to engage me and really understand where I was coming from when I asked about his outdoor strains. They didn't have a huge outdoor selection but better than most places. I actually under-utilized his budtending services because while I would normally look at all the pots and select visually and olfactorily, in this case I saw they had Blue Dream (one of my all-time top 5) and just bought it. It cost $10 and was pre-packaged (not my favorite) and they did have a choice of packaging, either the foil-lined plastic envelopes (these suck) or they had some pill bottles, which I opted for. This is a classic Blue Dream, executed well. I've seen crystallier outdoor versions, but this smoked smooth and had a great profile of quick high, long plateau, slow fade. In summary, this place is great, takes itself and its work seriously, and it shows in the service and product and your mood even when you first walk out of there.

The Guild

It's a little house in a residential neighborhood, which is great. Fits their personality and fits mine. My budtender was great, really knowledgeable about all their buds. They had a very small outdoor selection, but small is better than none. I got a gram of the Blackwater for $10. It was a generous gram-plus, and the actual weight printed on the label. It was a much more formidable opponent than one might expect from a relatively low THC number. I was pretty much couchlocked and going off on some really wild mental tangents, hours later still. I smoked it in the evening for chillaxing purposes, but I can't imagine trying to get anything done. Maybe something creative, but not a routine activity. Anyway, in summary, the prices at this place are only average, but the bud is kind and they help you well. Will be back.

Flowr of Lyfe

Another one of those places where the employees are obviously high and it reeks of (smoked) pot inside. Budtenders don't know where their bud was grown. I got a gram of Nine Pound Hammer for $10 (it was on sale as their bud of the week and the only one in the shop under $15). The high was okay, lasted about 4 hours. This place's only redeeming quality is its downtown location. I don't expect to be coming back, not with several objectively-better places around the city.

The location is a bit of a pain, but this is a good place. They had a large selection of outdoor bud, clearly labeled. The budtender who helped me was knowledgeable and confident. I got a gram of Blueberry for $8, a great price. The bud was legit. Six hours of feeling great, without a lot of dropoff after the first plateau - more of a gradual descent.

Track Town Collective

This place has a small outdoor selection and brazenly exorbitant recreational prices (double or triple what others charge!). But the pot is very good and the budtenders know what they are talking about. I got a gram of Hindu Kush for $15 (an outrage! but that's the lowest price tier they had). It came in one of those plastic foil-lined zip-lock envelopes, which I am not fond of, and they printed my name on the label, which is insane. Let me tell you though, that Hindu Kush tore me up. Six hours easy. I couldn't tell you my own name during the hour or so of the long flat peak, but I was productive and creative for the rest of the time while feeling great, though I did have really intense munchies. In summary, I'll probably check in on this place after a while just to see if they've cut prices, but I'm not sold that this pot is particularly special compared to what I can get for half the price at many dispensaries in town.

Fireside Dispensary

I was looking for a different place that apparently isn't there anymore, so I stopped at Fireside. They occupy an enormous space, 99% of which is empty. In the first room, you sign a release form (WTF) about the dog they have on premises (amateur hour). Then you walk through a second giant empty room to get to the actual sales room, 99% of which is again empty, but that's when you see the dog - it's a mastiff being passed off as a therapy dog (pet peeve of mine). They had a small selection of outdoor bud. I chose the Afgoo, but it was not without reservations - in the jar, some of the buds were dark purple while some were a pale yellow-green. I guess the budtender thought this was my first time seeing a jar of pot so he told me some mumbo-jumbo about light. I understand why some of the buds coming off the same plant will look different; but what are the ugly ones doing in your jar, player. Anyway, I got a gram for $8. It came in the, shall we say girthiest plastic pill-bottle I've ever gotten for a gram. Then I got the hell out of there, because I did not care for the vibe I was getting off of the people. The bud itself was disappointing. I didn't get very high and it wore off after two hours. The Afgoo was the crystalliest of the outdoors and the purple caught my eye which is why I went with it, but in retrospect I wish I'd tried something else.

The Herbal Connection

It was busy and they had too many customers in the back room. The budtender who helped me didn't sound very certain about any of the strains I asked him about, but then again, he was visibly high. They do not label or even track where their pot is from, so I was unable to get any outdoor bud. I settled on a gram of Forum Girl Scout Cookies (a new hybrid I'm unfamiliar with) for $11 because their bud of the week for $8 was sold out. This is an above-average price. The bud itself was excellent. Quick onset, high peak, long plateau, gradual descent. Six hours later I was still feeling it. Positive effect on productivity, I was motivated and able the whole time. Packaged in a standard plastic pill-bottle. My girlfriend commented on the sticker on the bottle being crooked. The little things do count. In summary, I wouldn't come here again because they don't know where their bud grew, and the prices are a bit higher than they should be.

TLDR: Top-notch place, one of the elite few in Eugene. The Place Very friendly, knowledgeable, good-looking staff. They did not have much outdoor selection, but they did have the lowest price on bud that I've ever seen - $5 for a gram of Bianca, their house strain (which actually looked outdoor). Comes in a plastic pill-bottle. The Bud It hit really strong but tailed off quickly, and by 1.5 hours later I was very ready to smoke more. Residual effects were still noticeable 3 hours later, but that's about it, after that it faded. I was able to be productive after the initial peak, during which I was uselessly trippin. I did find myself distracted by the jones to smoke more during the tail end of the high, and I would rate them a little lower on quality because of this, but it was a 5-dollar gram, and I also got another strain from them (not reviewing because it was a clear indoor) which was terrific. Summary I recommend this place as highly as one can recommend a place one wouldn't necessarily frequent oneself.

Eugene OG

TLDR: lots of great bud, all/almost all indoor. The Place I liked it, despite being a bit hectic due to relatively limited floor space and several other customers in the room. My budtender was knowledgeable and spoke confidently about the entire menu. They did not have any outdoor strains in stock, but expected some with the upcoming harvest. I bought a $10 gram of Orange Eddy, which is not its real name, and its genetics are a secret kept by the growers even from the dispensary. I'm not really impressed with the gamesmanship of that, but the bud is righteous. It did, however, come in subpar packaging - a foil-lined zip-locking baggie. The Bud I was destroyed for a good 3 hours and still feeling very well 8 hours later. Unbelievable perseverance on this strain, whatever it is. I wouldn't venture to speculate on which strains were its 'rents, but it's got a lot of sativa AND a lot of indica qualities. Summary Not totally my personal cup of tea because I much prefer outdoor pot, but I can't really knock this place for anything.

The People's Wellness Center

TLDR: No complaints. The Place Pretty standard procedures. The budtender helping me knew where his bud was from and was able to speak about any strain I asked about. They did not have any outdoor bud when I came, though they expected some from the impending harvest. Unusually for a recreational menu, they did have a high-CBD strain available, Cannatonic, which I bought a gram of for $10. The Bud I loved it. This batch had a 1:1 CBD to THC ratio and hit me very nice. Noticeable initial high was followed by a crescendo to a peak about an hour after I smoked, and then a descent which started gradually but after a while dropped off. I smoked it at night while chillaxing so I did not gauge its effect on productivity. Summary Pretty good place, good bud, knowledgeable staff.
