Elevation 2477 - Nevada City
4/25/2019
I'm from West Texas. I was in Nevada City visiting a friend for a few days and we decided to pick up some supplies with which to celebrate the coming together of two old schoolmates who had had a near brush with friendship in the 1970's. I asked him if there was a dispensary nearby, and he assured me that there was... the one he'd been to a few months earlier that required a script in order to purchase any product, which he still possessed. He sent me a link to Elevation's website and told me to pick out what I wanted and he would go in to make the purchase. The idea reminded me of being a minor and having an adult buy beer for me at the liquor store... I didn't have an ID (script), but he did.
As I checked out their online menu, I was pleased to see such low prices ($120/oz. of Jack Herer, $55/g vape cartridges), less than half what I paid the last time I bought any smoke. Next to every item on the menu was the Add To Cart button. After writing down a few items on a list, I decided to see what would happen if I clicked on one of the Add To Cart buttons. The window that popped up asked for some basic information before I could be approved to shop online. I entered the info and was approved instantly, despite being from out of state. I then went back and added the items on my written list to my cart. When I clicked the button to check out, I was asked to upload a copy of my driver's license, which I did. I was then informed that my order would be sent to be processed and I would be notified when the order was ready to be picked up. It took no longer than 20 minutes before I got the notification. Being from Texas, most likely the last state that will ever legalize cannabis, I was in awe of the simplicity of the process. This was cooler than a president playing sax on a late night talk show!
My friend and I went to Elevation where I scanned my ID, signed a form saying I would abide by the dispensary rules of being respectful to Elevation's neighbors, not using any product in the dispensary or in the parking lot and to put all purchased product in the trunk of my car. I was let into the main area through the customer door at the same time the security guard went through the employee door carrying a plastic pouch of my ordered items, which he handed to a woman who greeted me as she walked to the main register. She asked my name, and verified that the order in the pouch was mine. With a genuinely warm smile on her face, she opened the pouch and made sure that the order had been filled correctly and completely. She gave me the total, I handed her the cash, she handed me the pouch and receipt and bid me a good day.
As I turned to exit, I happened to look down into one of the display cases and saw a package of "PAX"... something I'd seen elsewhere but was completely clueless as to what it was. So, I stopped and asked the man behind the counter what PAX was. He was quick to answer and explain to me what it was and show me the paraphernalia used to ingest it. I thanked him, turned around to find my friend with his own purchase in hand and we left. Once in the parking lot, I made sure we put our purchases in the trunk.
This is only the second dispensary I've been to, and the first one was quite different (So. Cal.)... I was like a freakin' kid in a candy store in that one! My experience with Elevation was efficient, professional, enlightening and easily the most pleasant retail experience I've had in decades. I'm already making plans for another trip to see my friend this summer... and I'm sure that a trip to Elevation will be on my itinerary.
