Oregon's Best Buds - Portland

6/16/2015
I went to OBM for my first visit and I left very pleased and referred several patients after my visit. Service: The employees were smiling, pleasant and knowledgeable, with the new patient check-in taking only a brief time. Atmosphere: The layout was bright and well-lit with the flower easily displayed and grouped by price. It did look a little sterile with the white theme and unused space but they are also new - it takes time to develop atmosphere. (Note: 4 stars, not 5 because it's a little plain-looking inside in my opinion - something easily fixed.) Quality: I have to mention two MAJOR points: They use Boveda Humidipaks (We swear by them for our own curing) & they hermetically seal the product to vend. I think these are two features alone are well worth visiting them for. We tried 4 strains on our first visit: Northern Lights: This backbone of cannabis genetics showed its fame for this strain we received. Very nice mellow Indica high, smooth. In fact, I have little to say bad about this; we went back for more not two days later. Try it. Earthquake OG: This was a special - $10 for 10g; normally I wouldn't review something so inexpensive, but it was reduced (From what I can tell) because it was trimmed poorly and it looks like it was left in the medium well after the clear/flush stage. Despite all these strikes against, once you broke the flower open its rich scent came through. It grinded nicely, not too dry, not too moist and some fluff. We smoked this one and while it had a tint of harshness, it was otherwise an excellent strain with great taste. All I can say is, if you see a special here, take them up on it as we were quite pleased with this one. We still have some left a week later as we're pacing it out! Lavender: One of the first strains I grew 4 years ago, this Lavender had a rich skunky undertone that was not in my phenotype. It smoked smoothly and the higher CBD (~0.32%) paired well with its THC content. This was a great evening med making sleep come very easily that night. This was one of the $5/g daily specials and we should've grabbed more as they were out completely after we went back for more Northern Lights. Please get me a clone of this!! Purple Trainwreck: This was the free 1½g special advertised for new patients. This was a decent, clear-headed medication, though we did pass most of it on to another patient who subsequently became a new patient 2 days later after trying it. That pretty much says it all :) Summary: Nice staff, great product -- it's a shame we're now growing our own and won't be visiting as often as we'd normally do. We will be back solely to try more and more strains from them. NOTE: We're customers up at their grow shop as well for our growing supplies -- and we're pleased with BOTH businesses. DISCLAIMER: While we are a customer of their grow shop and growers, we'd like to state that we have not vended to them at this time and none of the products reviewed here were our own. This review was done by Brendan K Callahan, lead grower, RCGW Collective and should be considered my personal views. Best of luck OBM, and welcome to Portland!
