Lost Moon

I'm always intrigued when I get to try a strain that's so new or obscure it's not on leafly yet, and this 70/30 indica dominant strain did not disappoint. This is some really powerful stuff. A few hits of this flower and I was thoroughly baked. First thing I noticed was that I got really distracted just staring into the distance and following random trails of thought, entirely lost in my own inner world. I was almost surprised to look down and see my pipe and lighter in my hands, having almost forgotten what I'd been doing. Lost Moon hit me hard and fast with a powerfully sedating effect combined with moderate euphoria and a calming, dreamy mind-buzz. I'd had a difficult, anxiety inducing day and had a terrible anxious "knot" in my stomach as well as a little head pain. Both were thoroughly obliterated in short order by Lost Moon.

Durban Poison

6/9/2018
Full disclosure: I'm more of an indica girl, myself, so I'm definitely biased here. But I like to try and broaden my horizons when I can, and I thought the energizing effects of sativas might help my depression. My experience with Durban Poison has been very mixed. I've had some good highs with it, but I've had some very, very bad ones too. I'm talking full-on panic attack, nausea, and a killer headache (which is frustrating; I use weed to help with headaches, not to cause them or make them worse). Let's start with the good. Durban poison has a pleasant, woody, almost diesel-y smell and taste. I tend to go for fruitier smelling flower most of the time, but even I have to admit Durban Poison smells and tastes really nice. As for the high itself, it can be a really quite fantastic; an energetic high that allows you to be productive and relaxed at the same time. Now for the bad: It's really easy for me to have too much of this stuff. If I overdo it just a little on DP, I get a *really bad* high that sees me panicked, depressed, and sad at the same time, and leaves me with a killer headache as a parting gift. So ultimately what I want to say about DP is: be careful. This strain is absolutely not for beginners. I feel for the right person this could be an excellent strain for daytime use that could feel great and help with depression and moodiness. But handle with care; DP is dangerous stuff if you overdo it. Remember that you can always have another pull later, and use sparingly.

Strawberry Banana

A great hybrid, to me, should give you the best of both worlds. Indica relaxation without too much sleepiness. Sativa creativity and energy without a headache or paranoia. Strawberry Bannana is a great hybrid. First thing you'll notice is the smell and taste of this lovely little gem. It does its name justice with a host of fruity, sweet, and heady terpines, which, I should add, also bodes well for the way the high will feel. The sativa part of the high always hits me first, within a couple minutes of vaping. A nice, mild, uplifted buzz. Then in about 10 minutes, I get sublime full-body indica-esque relaxation that coexists in perfect harmony with the cerebral effects. This is a wonderful strain for beginners. My partner, who had never tried weed until recently, found this a pleasant and agreeable high herself, and a great entry point into the world of cannabis that probably won't couch-lock you or send you spiraling into a panic attack, and blends the best elements of sativas and indicas with a rich, hearty terpine profile to keep you happy and relaxed.

Granddaddy Purple

6/9/2018
Note: I myself am on the autism spectrum, and find it can be hard to find information of how weed affects neurodivergent folk like myself, so I hope the insight of this autistic girl (I'm pointing at myself. I'm really stoned so I think I'm funny (stoned on GDP, in fact!)) might help others like me. That said, everyone is different, so what helps me may or may not help you. <3 I suffer from frequent headaches, occasional migraines, insomnia from time to time, and chronic depression and anxiety. Grandaddy Purple is pretty much my best friend when it comes to dealing with any of the above for me, to the point where my partner has started jokingly saying "thanks grandaddy!" when I use this strain and it helps me feel better. A very stony high to be sure, and lovely, fruity terpines to relax and soothe you into a blissful, dreamy state. Within about 10 minutes of vaping or smoking GDP, all my pain is just *gone* (meaning GDP does the seemingly impossible for me; kills headaches that conventional painkillers can't) and I'm just kind of chill, happy, and relaxed. I've also found that if I get "too high" on a high-energy sativa or hybrid, GDP is the perfect antidote, and in no time Grandaddy can put a bad high back on track and turn it into a pleasant one for me. I've also used it for pain in combination with CBD oil to make up for GDP's low CBD content. All in all, from the amusing name to the rich terpine profile, painkilling potential, and a really enjoyable, relaxed happy high, I very highly recommend Grandaddy Purple. An excellent indica all around.
