Lightshade - Holly (Rec)

12/20/2015
This place is second to none in the realm of stores I've visited so far.. And I try to make my way around. Lightshade is known for great bud, and the people and vibe they foster in the store is amazing. Always recommend, even if it is a good hike for me to get to!

Native Roots Dispensary - Edgewater - Recreational

6/13/2015
This is the Edgewater location of what I consider the best dispensary 'chain' that I've visited so far. Its also the single dispensary I've been to in Edgewater that has consistently good flower that doesn't leave a bad taste in my mouth and is devoid of Myclobutanil, a horrid fungicide that I've seen other chain and Edgewater specific shops that list it on their ingredient list. LOOK BEFORE PAYING MONEY AT ANY DISPENSARY AS THIS IS A HARMFUL SUBSTANCE! The staff here is well trained and knowledgeable about their product, and is exceedingly friendly, just like the 16th St. Mall shop. The location however leaves a bit to be desired, as it lives back behind the stripmalls of Sheridan Blvd. proper, hidden away behind a post office. The parking lot is desolate and barren, and the main windows which face the bud room are covered over. The bright green beacon in the window is about all that makes the place stand out. Still, its worth the drive or nice bike ride around Sloans Lake if you miss the downtown location's 7pm sharp closing time.

Good Chemistry - Colfax

Good Chemistry is a bit of a hole-in-the-wall place, hard to find if you are just driving down Colfax - turn your head to look up at the Cathedral, and you'll probably miss it. But when you do find it, what wonders are in store! The location is somewhat small and cramped, with a classic row of old theatre seats to sit on in the closet-sized the waiting area. Once you are let into the main room, again tiny, it reminds one of a very small cramped pub or bar, with room for about 10 people, standing-room-only. But once you get past that, the flower and staff are wonderful here! The pricing is also lower than comparable quality dispensaries in the downtown central business district. Some charge upwards of $60 for a 1/8th; Good Chemistry is leading the price wars at $35/8th plus tax (walk out the door for under $40). Their selection is somewhat more limited than some of the other places, but often they often have about 10 strains on sale for recreational. Their edibles selection is also top notch, and reasonably priced. Ah, how I miss the 100mg chocolate bites for $12.. If only I qualified for a medical card, I'd go for edibles more often as they are often very expensive otherwise. In short: small shop, great bud, exceptional staff! Well worth the 5 minute walk from the 16th street mall!

JARS Cannabis - 16th St.

This is a departure from the traditional, 'go up to a counter and consult the budtender' experience, in lieu of a streamlined self-directed exploratory process. The likening of Euflora to an 'apple store of weed' is a very apt description, except they did end up saving a lot of money by using Samsung tablets, and HP computers, vs the comparable Apple devices. But the self-directed effect is still quite unique in my experiences so far. Their flower is almost always top notch, however I did find over 20 seeds in one purchase of Blockhead, so there are a few lower-quality buds in stock, somewhat randomly. Their Ultra Sonja and LA Confidential have been some of the best strains tried so far, and for downtown dispensaries, their selection is one of the largest. They have had a number of other wonderful choices in stock, but they do end up rotating out after a while. Finally, their staff is wonderfully friendly and helpful, if in case you actually have more questions than the product literature can assist with. Protip: bring your passport if you do not want your ID scanned or kept up front at the security desk in a binder with card slots as pages.

Native Roots Dispensary Denver

Native Roots Downtown was my second or third legal dispensary tried, and I've been coming back ever since, for the wonderful people and great flower they have! Even though there may be a wait to get in, it's worth it unless you are on a very tight schedule - maybe you should wait until after work, instead of attempting a quick duck out for lunch and a preroll. I've been through the move to the new storefront downstairs and the extra space is great, although the decision to put a wood bench in for a majority of those waiting was a painful choice. Tthe previous locale in the University building was, both more crowded, and yet I thought it was also more elegant, as the old building's charm was quite unique and missing now in the new digs. The flower is always top notch, and I cannot remember the last seedy bit purchased(if ever), and there is never any sort of aftertaste from a bad flush. Highly recommended visit for those in Downtown Denver!

The Dab - Downtown

The location, a few blocks away from the business and commercial hubbub of the 16th St. Mall corridor, likely is the only reason this shop is not crowded with a line out the door every day! The staff is both very informed and informative, and multiple people so far have regularly guided me toward the same plants when posed a question regarding pain relief and some cerebral stimulation. I have found that this dispensary has seeds in their flower on more than 1 occasion, but the quality of the bud is still very high. It just takes a bit of time to pick through them, lest you get a roaster that snaps and pops and tastes like, well, burnt seeds. Great place to visit if you are in the area, or want to rent a B-cycle for a few minutes from 16th and Market.
