Not sure if this is the proper strain page, but I picked up a strain from Pure dispensary just called "Cough" that was labeled a hybrid...
So far, this strain hasn't given me either a sativa or indica high. Pretty much down the middle (hence it being labeled a hybrid, I suppose). I'm primarily an indica smoker, but wanted to start trying strains that wouldn't make me so sleepy when I wanted to smoke and go out with friends. It basically gives me a basic high with no profound effects besides being mellow and "light" (that's the best way I can describe it). I've also smoked this with the intentions of sitting at home and watching TV before falling asleep and this definitely didn't hurt with helping out.
Again, I could be reviewing the wrong strain, but this is the closest name I could find for it. Also, the dispensary I got it from could've had some insight as to how long this particular strain was in flowering cycle, which would have had a considerable effect on its effects (i.e. - longer time spent in flowering = darker trichromes = more indica-like high). I'll change this review once I have more info on the lineage of this strain.
I'm writing this review will full awareness that it (as well as a vast majority of strains on Leafly) already has a stellar rating. But at the very least, I'll explain to you why this strain is hands down my favorite and why I think everyone should have it in their stash box...
Along with being somewhat of a weed-nerd, I'm also a pretty well established food blogger in my city. Needless to say, my appetite has no boundaries and unlike my taste in weed (I'm pretty stuck on Indicas and only recently started dabbling in hybrids), I'm open to eating anything.
It goes without saying that food poisoning is no stranger to me. It doesn't happen often at all, but it's definitely something I've accepted as a down-side of running my website and trying as much of my city's food as possible.
Let's rewind to about two months ago when I ate a sandwich from a local farm-to-table that I, until that point, gave me no reason to be hesitant of their locally sourced meat. I ate the sandwich with some fries and felt fine for the rest of the night until I went to bed. However, I felt A LOT of things the next morning before going to work, but "fine" was not one of the words I would use to describe how I felt.
The rest of the following day was spent at my work desk, slipping slowly deeper into a stomach virus that was worst I've had in years. I ended up leaving work early and spending the rest of my day on the toilet and my bed (but mostly the toilet).
After texting a friend about my day, he suggested that I smoke a little weed to ease the stomach pain, at which point I was a bit hesitant. "I don't want to be high AND shitting my brains out." I told him skeptically. But since pepto bismal and tylenol weren't working at all to help ease my stomach pains and (my newly developed) body aches, I decided that I had nothing to lose. I opened my stash box and figured that my batch of Northern Lights (from Native Roots in Boulder, CO), would be as good as any strain for pain relief.
Luckily for me, I was right to choose Northern Lights because it took all of five minutes for my stomach pain and body aches to subside into a God-sent feeling of bliss and relaxation. Up until that point, I was struggling with nausia and whole-body muscle aches for a little over 24 hours.
And I'm not just talking an acceptable amount of nausea relief... I'm talking TOTAL nausea relief. My stomach pain immediately went away, my appetite came back, and I was able to hold everything down much better. I was in utter amazement of how well it worked! You can even ask my girlfriend, who heard my constant praises of this miracle strain on the couch for the rest of the night.
I've always been aware of cannabis' medical uses, but (knocks on wood) never really had anything wrong with me that had outright been immediately cured by it so fast!
I already loved this strain as an indica for recreational use, but it is now on my list for "must-have" strains. I highly recommend it to anyone for both medical and recreational purposes.
Besides helping with nausea, it's a great strain for staying in and watching Netflix, with a powerful indica body high and excellent floral, almost lavender-ish taste. There's a reason why this strain is so popular. I hope it helps others the same way it did me!
[Just an FYI, although I purchased this strain from Native Roots in Boulder, CO, I'm not sure as to whether they still carry this strain anymore. I got it some time back on vacation and haven't been there since.]
Out of all the dispensaries we went to on our trip to Denver, these guys were the most helpful, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable budtenders we came across, and I don't say that lightly because almost everyone we visited we great. They took their recommendations seriously and thoroughly explained each strain and method of intake with great detail. They even helped sign us up for some O.pen rewards program on my phone to help me get some free stuff (it didn't end up working due to an issue with the app, but they still did everything they could to help). We got some awesome strains that were exactly what I was hoping for and the prices were great (5.5 grams of Queen Mother Goji for $30???). I'd definitely come back here next time I'm in town.
Definitely a solid indica, but what I love most about it is its taste! I've had a number of "berry" tasting strains, but this one, when packed into a cape or magic flight box, tastes amazing! It's not the strongest strain out there, but it definitely gets the job done.
This is a very solid indica. It's a very mellow high and pretty much all body and no head high. The effects come in pretty slow when smoked, and stay at a pretty moderate level. Definitely good for a relaxing night in without making you fall asleep right away. The strain isn't the strongest, but it definitely gets the job done without being too strong. Good for smoking all night.
Definitely a great indica. Made me very relaxed, but not too sleepy (just like the effects say). It didn't take too long for its relaxing effects to kick in either.
I was amazed by how much it actually smelled like blue cheese! One of my favorite strains (I tend to smoke indicas). Great, relaxing effects when taken according to your tolerance.
Definitely a potent, great tasting strain with beautifully tight, dense nugs, but this didn't give me the indica high I was expecting. Not sure if the dispensary I got it from mislabeled it or if it didn't spend enough time in flower cycle to build up some more dark trichromes, but who knows... This strain was pretty strong. I wouldn't recommend it to beginners as it was kind of hard to focus after smoking it. I was almost on the edge of being "too high" with this one with more racing thoughts and slightly increased heart rate. Not sure if I just smoked too much or if my body just reacted to it differently so I just keep it in my stash box for a rainy day and haven't really touched it since. Tastes/smells amazingly though!
LA Confidential is another one of those great indica a that can still keep you light on your feet. I try to only smoke indicas because they help me sleep way better, but this is a great bud to sip on throughout the night if you're trying to relax, but still be socially active. Definitely good for having a relaxing night with good friends.
Definitely a solid indica and good for when you just want to relax, but not "knocked out". I've broken out this strain for when friends come over and it's proven to be a great "indica light" to make sure everyone is relaxed, but still awake. Also a very fuzzy bud with plenty of crystals covering it.
