Home Grown Apothecary

The employee gave off a vibe like I was wasting their time by coming in and spending my money there, and not on a small purchase either. Wasn't directly rude but not warm and welcoming, just trying to get me in and out as fast as possible. Wasn't very helpful, just pointed to the strains on the wall and went back to what she was doing rather than actually telling me anything about the strains or suggesting a few to look at or anything like that. I've had worse service for sure, but I looked more carefully when I got home and the weed was over 2 years old. That's just ridiculous, whether it's bottom shelf or top shelf, that just displays a blatant disregard for the satisfaction of their customers. Will not go back here.

Going to keep it simple. It's very clear headed, and truly does make you feel more motivated to do things, albeit for a short time for me. Maybe half an hour or 45 minutes then it knocks me out. That's just weed though, I've yet to find any that doesn't make me tired on the comedown.
Smell and flavor are very nice if you're into that.
Even at really high doses my mind stays very clear. It lifts my mood almost as well as alcohol but with none of the danger. Definitely euphoric or mood lifting, I would much rather use this as an antidepressant than any indica.
Today's Herbal Choice - Barbur

Perfect almost all around, I think it could use a little more decoration but it's by no means bad. I've been here several times but not in the last several months, it's nice to see they're still providing good deals and excellent service. Definitely recommend THC Barbur over pretty much any other dispensary I've been to.
Cannabis Nation - Oregon City

I don't use cannabis much anymore but felt like buying a gram randomly and saw this place was close by and had reasonable prices, especially compared to other Oregon City dispensaries. I stopped in and got a quality gram for a good price, friendly staff, and a nice atmosphere. Would absolutely recommend this place and will probably be my go-to from now on, even though I don't go to dispensaries much anymore (simply because I don't use cannabis much).

This is the most consistently sedating strain I've ever used. It's never failed to help me fall asleep; most other strains tend to bit pretty hit or miss. I think it has to do with the OG Kush genetics and being an indica dominant hybrid (ironically I find pure indicas more stimulating than hybrids). Almost all of my other favorite strains are related to OG Kush within the last 2 generations of their genetics.
I can kind of see how you would say this smells like a wet dog, at first I thought it was potent but weird, now I still think it's potent but I love the smell.
The vaporized bud and the vapor itself smells EXTREMELY strongly compared to any other strain I've ever used, so make sure you're careful about your usage if you need to conceal it. It'll smell up a small house/large room easily with a hit or two from even a vaporizer. The smell really sticks to fabrics too. I actually love how strong it is, but it may be an issue for some people.
For medical purposes, I feel like this is at least as good as any other strain I've used for pain. Helps a lot with insomnia.
Purple Hindu Kush

This strain is very stimulating to me. It's stimulating and extremely psychedelic. My vision becomes quite distorted but my mind isn't very foggy. I'm not sure why I get the effect of stimulation while everyone else claims it's relaxing and sedating, other than maybe others have a stronger placebo effect and hear indica and think "this is going to knock me out" so it happens. I had a friend agree pure indicas like this (which is actually the same strain as Purple Kush) sometimes cause him to be stimulated.
Smells like licorice quite strongly. Relatively nice cure and trim job on the stuff I got.
Side effects are super dry mouth and significantly increased heart rate which can sometimes induce anxiety on its own.
Hashstoria - Gladstone

Pretty small place but good weed, good prices, and friendly staff. Couldn't ask for much more.
Jack Herer

Keep in mind, while reading, this strain is actually about as close to a perfect hybrid as you'll find. It's 55% sativa, 45% indica. My best guess is it's commonly called a sativa because it has copious amounts of THCV and limonene which are more common with energizing sativa strains than indicas.
Jack Herer is a pretty fun strain, I've had some of my most powerful psychedelic experiences with cannabis on it. I don't find it to be a particularly useful every day strain, it would lose its fun pretty quickly that way. This is for when you want to have a minor trip. It would become exhausting or boring very quickly if you used it daily or worse (several times a day), it'd just blend in with a lot of other average strains you've tried.
I feel it's best used maybe a few times a month when you really want to lose it, be too high to function because it's fun. It gives me no anxiety or anything, at least nothing disproportionate to all other weed I've ever tried (when I start to get extremely high of course I feel uneasy sometimes). This comes with a rest period of a day or two, if you get high again during that time it's going to be boring or extremely exhausting and you won't be able to function. My opinion, which I've discussed with a few psychonaut friends, is that any psychedelic experience will wear you out physically and mentally for a bit, so I don't blame that on the strain. I'm usually out cold 2-3 hours after using jack every time, but honestly that's just cannabis, no strain really makes me stay up or energetic for long, sativa or not.
Minimal medical value for psychological conditions such as depression, anxiety, etc. It would tend to exacerbate them, if anything. Seemed good enough for pain the few times I've used it for that. I'd call this a recreational strain for the most part. You'd want something much more clear headed for everyday medical use.

I was originally going to give it a 4 because it's not really MY favorite strain, but I decided 5 was fair because I feel it would have great medical value for some people with pain and/or insomnia. Knocks me out with the force of a freight train. Of course it is stimulating a bit at first, like you get with most strains, but it pretty quickly turns into complete pain and insomnia relief. Never fails to knock me out. I don't get a ton of euphoria but I get a bit of mood lift without having a completely foggy mind. Doesn't give me anxiety or anything quite like some indicas do (indicas tend to be worse for that for me, sativas actually have a higher average CBD content which often helps with anxiety, I feel).
Not a super recreational stain, but would definitely have some medical value for quite a few people. Absolutely not an active/daytime strain whatsoever, and I rarely say that.
