Blue Dream

4/18/2022
510 .5g Cartridge Blue Dream by Old Pal Quick take: "This is a phenomenal daytime strain and I highly recommend it to anyone who treats their depression with cannabis" (NOTE: CANNABIS IS NOT THE ONLY WAY I SEEK MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT) - I am a patient who does take antidepressants and sees a licensed mental health professional every week, there is a possibility this strain and my medication just worked really well together. Found myself flying for the first time as a daily smoker during Spring Break. Deciding to play it safe, I chose to only bring my battery and a lighter through TSA, and buy something at my destination (legal state). While in layover, I looked at the menu of the nearest dispo to my Airbnb with Leafly as my guide. My ultimate goal was a .5g sativa cart that would let me blissfully walk the Vegas strip, be aware of my surroundings (for safety), and could be finished in a week before I flew again. I really didn't want to have to toss out cannabis at the end of my trip but I wanted to be a TSA friendly stoner. Now, I had seen Blue Dream before, but for some reason, I was always off put from trying it. And now I was in a predicament - it was the only sativa on this menu that I recognized. I don't like trying new sativas I haven't researched prior (in effort to avoid paranoia) and the next dispensary with more products I recognized was a $30 Uber alone. Well, the packaging was adorable too. I landed in Vegas and made my first stop. Picked up an Old Pal .5g cart of Blue Dream, edibles, and a couple joints. The next morning, I gear up for a wonderful wake & bake on the balcony. Coffee on the patio table, I screw in my new cart, preheat, and hit. "Wow" was all I could say. I felt as though I just bit into a blueberry muffin - so sweet! I ran to the wrapper to double check if my cart was flavored (its not)! Amazing, amazing flavor. Soon, the high sets in and I find myself looking to the cloudless sky, sipping my coffee, and enjoying a warm sunny morning with my feet up. I just know I had a smile plastered on my face. The glass slider opens and I am called inside for breakfast. I am clear headed as I talk with my significant other and the in-laws about the day's plans. I am attentive, I remember, and I am aware, all with a smile on my face. And that is how my entire trip was, I was entranced with the excitement of Vegas all while knowing exactly where my purse was. It wasn't just my enjoyment of everything, it was enjoyment of myself. I genuinely felt better about my appearance and had a real, raw, positive mind shift. My trip was so memorable and phenomenal I just had to bring the little bit I had left home with me. Come Monday, I am back in class, smiling as I attentively listen to the professor and write detailed, legible notes. I enjoy studying and completing homework. I feel MOTIVATED to do it. Most importantly, I am remembering what I am learning. This is a phenomenal daytime strain and I highly recommend it to anyone who treats their depression with cannabis (I do). The only thing I warn against is that if you have a comfort motion you often do (for me I twirl and run my hands through my hair), you'll find yourself mindlessly doing it a lot more. And oh boy, do I look pretty bleary eyed in some of those family vacay photos! Trust me when I say, add this to your shopping list on your next dispo run!

Cinex

I figured it was time to write a review on this strain when I realized I just rounded month three of smoking it nearly every day. This has been my saving grace for studying, especially since I am distracted by noise easily. This high produced a focus so intense I heard nothing as I cranked out homework without once looking up. Put yourself in a social/everyday setting, you can expect to be uplifted, engaged, and active without feeling the weight of mental fog (duh, it's a sativa). This would be a great energetic strain to start with as a new smoker, especially if you are worried about paranoia, because of its very gentle and manageable head high, smooth hit, and relatively low THC content (as flower) - so expect to have full control of your experience! Flower is dense and compact, rather a light green with a few flicks of orange and yellow. Honestly, it's just really boring bud to look at (looks are deceiving in this case). Do be advised that if you are thinking about woking while smoking on some Cinex, your tunnel vision can also hone in on your distractions. I definitely feel that if I got distracted, I REALLY got distracted, so the amount of time it took me to finish my work increased a little bit - but I still feel like I could just as easily pull myself back into what I was doing. Overall, great strain, it has clearly found a home in my stash bag. Pick some up on your next dispo run, you won't regret it!

Cannabis and Glass - Liberty Lake

This is a beautiful dispensary that definitely has a sleek and modern look which I love, nice and bright so you can see all the products, and a luxurious feeling but the customer service was subpar. Stopped in to get a topical for my mother since she isn't comfortable going to dispensaries and though I myself am anxious going to new shops, I can put it aside to help my mom. I'm new to the cannabis world, only consistently using for medical reasons for about 8 months now, but I figured it would be no big deal, just stand in line, ask for what you're looking for, check out, and you're on your merry way. But that is not how it went here at all. When I was called forward, I asked if they had the Dragon Balm in stock and the budtender just hit me with "ya". I said I would take just one jar and he scoffed before saying "okay" and just staring me down. After a minute or so of standing awkwardly he finally says "are you gonna show me your ID?". Now, please understand I only have experience with a few shops, so I figured since there wasn't a sign stating to have an ID ready (that I could see, I tend to have tunnel vision in new shops so forgive me if I missed it), I would be asked for it after the product has been retrieved and before check out. I of course have no issues presenting ID but I didn't have to be stared down. I expressed that it was my first time ever in this dispensary and we laughed it off a little, but the nervousness returned when he stated "so this isn't for you is it?". I expressed it was for my mom and the reaction I was getting was kind of like a "sure it is". I am appreciative that the budtender genuinely apologized and he was helpful after the awkwardness was out of the way, but the whole experience felt like I wasn't "in" on something because I'm not a regular and that the legality of my purchase was questioned, even though I am honest and older than the legal smoking age. I was just trying to run an errand for my mom to get a very specific product she wanted and experiences like this just fuel one's nervousness to try new shops. I mentioned my experience to a friend of mine who happened to come in on the same night and she said that she didn't have an entirely pleasant interaction with a different budtender too. I think it will be awhile before I build the courage to return, which is a shame because there are plenty of products you have that I would really like to try. Please, just keep in mind you don't know who is the vet and who is the newbie and every experience should be welcoming! Hopefully my next time in will be better!
