Banana Split

10/17/2016
This is a sativa-dominant hybrid cross between Tangie and Banana Sherbet. I love Tangie so I knew I was going to enjoy this strain. The nugs are somewhat fluffy with a lot of noticeable trichomes. The buds are mostly light green in color, but there are also random purplish buds. At first smell, you get a fruity citrusy smell, mostly due to the Tangie I assume. Once the bud is broken open, the Banana Sherbet really comes through with a strong sweet, banana aroma. I smoked a bowl of this in the morning to see if it would help with the stiffness I usually have when I wake up. I had a sense of euphoria within five minutes of smoking. Around the 25 minutes mark I noticed a decent decrease in the stiffness in my lower back. It allowed me to move quicker and be more motivated to start my day. The effects were very ‘stoney’ as well, however, I was still able to focus. Due to the happy and uplifting effects, I would recommend this strain for someone who is suffering from depression or stress. I also really enjoyed the pain relief it gave me. I am often very stiff in the morning and this strain has been great in helping me loosen up. I would also recommend this flower for those who deal with any sort of muscle tension or stiffness. The effects lasted for about an hour, which is not that long, but it was just enough to get me up and moving. I also really enjoyed how mellow the strain is. Tangie on its own has caused anxiety in me from time to time, but the Banana Sherbet nicely balances it out. I have never felt any anxiety while I medicate with this strain, which can be of great benefit for those who deal with anxiety issues. All in all, I really enjoyed medicating with this strain and I recommend it for anyone looking for a new sativa-dominant strain.

Grape Dream

I normally go with sativa-dominant strains, but I noticed a 50/50 called Grape Dream over at Nature’s AZ Medicines. This was a new strain to me, so I was intrigued when I saw it on their menu. The buds have a really nice structure to them. They are big and frosty green, with some buds having more hair than others. They are neither super dense nor super fluffy. There is a very noticeable fruity scent to this flower and the flavor comes through upon smoking as well. I smoked a decently sized bowl from my glass pipe around 11:00 in the morning. I noticed the effects right away in my body. I was completely relaxed, so much so that my eyelids felt heavy. Although the relaxing effects were heavy, they were ‘non-drowsy.’ The flower relaxed my body, but stimulated my mind. I became very pensive; getting lost in thought. The effects lasted about 1.5 hours, which is decent length of time for me to be medicated. I really liked how nicely the effects wore off too. I just ‘coasted’ into sobriety without any feeling of exhaustion or lethargy and was ready to head to work and start my shift. I did notice a slight increase in my appetite, but nothing I could not control. This would be a great strain for someone who is in need of some great body relaxation. There is some nice tension and pain relief to be had with this strain. I am sure mixing this strain with a heavier indica or a CBD strain would lead to some excellent pain relief. I do not recommend this strain for someone who needs to focus. My mind was wondering too much for me to focus on any one thing for too long. This is a great 50/50 strain with awesome relaxing effects. I highly recommend you swing by Nature’s AZ Medicines and pick some up while they still have it!

Sour Kush

8/7/2016
At first glance, the buds do not look too appealing. They are mostly small and fluffy with a darker green color. However, the smell is great! It gives off a sort of spicy/fuel-like piney aroma. Although the bud structure does not appear that great, the flower is super sticky and it burns really well. I smoked a bowl of the flower from my glass pipe. It burned nice and slow, keeping the cherry until I finished the bowl. I did not pick up much flavor in the smoke other than a hint of ‘spice.’ I smoked the bowl around 8:45 in the morning and the effects lasted until 10:30am. I wake up most mornings feeling fairly stiff in my low back so I wanted to see if sour kush would relieve any tension. With in 2 minutes of my first rip from the pipe I noticed some relief, and by five minutes I was feeling all sorts of “loosey-goosey.” I was able to complete my morning yoga routine in a state of complete relaxation, both mentally and physically. The combination of yoga and sour kush make for some great stress relief! By 10:30am I was coming down and hungry. I had not eaten breakfast yet, so my hunger was partly due to an empty stomach. I did, however, eat more than my typical breakfast; so the munchies are something to look out for in this strain. I definitely recommend this strain to anyone seeking a sativa dominant hybrid. This strain can be especially useful for those looking to relieve any sort of muscular tension, such as before and/or after a workout. I also recommend this strain for anyone suffering from loss of appetite. The stress relief and euphoria that come with this strain can also be useful for those suffering from anxiety or depression. All in all I was very pleased with the effects of the medication as well as how long they lasted. I picked this up at Nature’s AZ Medicines, which was selling this tree at $10/gram and it was testing at 20.7% THC.
