‘Tis the season to drink copious amounts of eggnog, spend quality time with family and friends, and set out your favorite holiday decorations. But along with the cheer of the season comes the stress of baking, shopping, and finding the time to fit everything in. So we crafted the perfect go-to gift to impress your friends and get your creative juices flowing. Push those worries away as you cross off every person on your list with our DIY cannabis wreath.

With cannabis flower tucked between the branches (and a couple of pre-rolls in there to boot), this craft is two gifts in one: quality cannabis and a gorgeous holiday decoration that will outlast the holiday smoke sessions it sparks. Pack a bowl and give the gift that keeps on giving with this surprisingly simple cannabis wreath.

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

(Leafly)

Head down to your local craft store and pop over to your favorite dispensary along the way to load up on supplies. You may choose to buy your greens or, for a budget-friendly option, go to your local tree lot. Most lots will gladly hand over extra branches if asked; all you’ll have to do is get them home and cut them into appropriate sizes. The Douglas fir boughs used in this wreath were given to me by a tree lot, while the berries and red-hued leaves were plucked right out of my own front yard. You’ll need:

  • Paddle wire
  • Florist tape
  • 12” or 14” wire wreath frame
  • Wire cutters
  • Scissors
  • Your choice of greenery
  • Burlap ribbon
  • An eighth of cannabis
  • Two pre-rolls

Step 2: Cut Your Greens

Working in an area where needles and leaves can be easily swept or vacuumed, cut your greenery and any additional decorative plants (this one is made with heavenly bamboo) into different sizes and set aside. Remove the foliage at the bottoms of the cannabis nugs to establish stems that are long enough to attach to florist tape. Set the nugs and pre-rolls aside.

Step 3: Establish the Base

(Leafly)

Lay the wire wreath frame on a flat surface. Starting on the right side of the frame, take the paddle wire and twist it around the wreath frame four to five times. Set the paddle wire aside while still attached to the wreath (do not cut).

Step 4: Bunch Your Greens

Begin bunching your greenery into different shapes, sizes, and styles. You may do this at the same time, or as you go along. Wrap florist tape on the ends of the bunches to hold them together. Beginning with the largest bunch, place greenery on the wire wreath on top of the paddle wire lines. Once in place, wrap the paddle wire around the base of the greenery bunch three to four times to hold it to the wreath frame.

Step 5: Cover the Frame

(Leafly)

Attach additional bunches to the frame, alternating between bunches skewed slightly inward and slightly outward. This will keep a solid circular shape around the entire wreath. Continue placing bunches and wrapping them in the paddle wire until wreath frame is fully covered and bunches are secured. When finished, cut the paddle wire and twist into the wreath to secure the entire structure.

Step 6: Fill in Sparse Spaces and Add Ribbon

Attach additional greenery to fill in spaces and bulk up any sparse sections within the wreath. You may tuck branches into the paddle wire or attach them with florist tape. On the right side of the wreath where you laid the first bunch, wrap your burlap ribbon around the wreath and tie it into a bow.

Step 7: Finish With the Cannabis

(Leafly)

Tuck your two pre-rolls and a well-shaped nug into the bow and secure. Attach the additional nugs to florist tape. Along the wreath, place the nugs where visually appealing and secure.

Voilà! You have a perfectly crafted wreath filled with delicious cannabis.
