Adapters

An example of a female to female adapter

An accessory, typically made of glass, designed to make two pieces of a smoking apparatus fit together and function, typically in a bong or dab rig. Where the two pieces connect if called the joints, and joints come in different shapes and sizes: male and female, and 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, etc.

“I need a female-to-female adapter for my bong.”

“That 14mm bowl won’t fit my rig.”

What are the benefits of an adapter?

If you have multiple bongs and dab rigs, most likely they do not all have the same fittings. If you want to use the same banger on all your dab rigs, an adapter will allow you to use it with multiple glass pieces.

Most adapters are made of glass, and they are intended to create a seal between two other pieces of glass. Some bongs or dab rigs have rubber-to-glass seals, but glass-to-glass adapters are becoming the standard, as they function just as well and don’t need to be replaced as often.

How to use an adapter

It’s important to get the measurements of your adapter and fittings right. You’ll need to know the size of the bowl/banger—10mm, 12mm, 14mm, etc. —and the rig. You’ll also need to know if each piece is male or female. Once you have the adapter with the correct specifications, all you have to do is slide it onto the bong/dab rig and place the bowl/banger on the other end.
