Hefe glass Remy Schwartz Aka HefeGlass is one of the premier fume artists in the country. Remy is one of those few artists that just have the ability to make gold and silver fume pop. Always taking it a step further, Hefe’s gilded designs and cold-worked features are breathtaking. An industry OG, Remy has been on the torch since the early 2000s working out of his North Carolina studio. Whether it be on a functional rig, eye-catching pendy, or on his mind-bending cubes, you can get lost in his mesmerizing fume patterns. What is Fume? – Fume is the process of atomizing minute amounts of silver and gold in the flame of the torch and in essence, spray paint the glass with the fumes coming off the metal. If you do this properly in different ratios, you can achieve all the different colors in the rainbow. Pinks, reds, yellows, oranges, blues, greens, purples are all possible. It all comes down to the skill of the artisan. The fume also appears to change colors. With a white background behind it, more of the pinks/yellows/reds come out, but then with a black background more of the blues/greens/purples start to really pop.
