The Apothecarium - Castro

Simply the best. Some of the highest quality medicine anywhere in the city and prices are honestly fairly reasonable for what you're getting. Staff is incredibly helpful and friendly and the location doesn't leave you feeling grimy. Bonus points for accepting credit cards and FREE DELIVERY(!). Love it.

Amazing service and recommendations.

Meh. Went for a specific strain advertised on their menu, but they didn't have it. Asked for a heavy hitting indica for night time anxiety and insomnia. Got a pure sativa with heavy anxiety side effects instead. No first time patient bonus. :/ Staff was very friendly, but not super helpful beyond "yeah, that's a good one". I like the theme they're going for, but feels more like a Davidoff without the selection. There are too many better, less expensive dispensaries in the area. Will probably skip this place in the future.

My favorite club in all of SF

Went here for the first time last weekend. By far the best experience ever! Its beautiful. And their flower selection are top notch. Service was awesome. You can tip em too. I like that. Those people know their shit! Over all I felt like we got VIP treatment. Ok I prob exaggerated a lil. But I did really fall for this place. You gotta experience it.

The quality of the meds was really good. I remember I was sick the day I went, so I got these lozenges that were medicated, and they worked great! They seemed to have pretty top shelf/high quality strains. I didn't like the atmosphere, because it seemed too professional and up-tight. I felt like I couldn't relax in the environment of this place, because everyone just seemed so serious. Also, I remember they had a very lengthy list of rules that you HAD to follow, or else. One of them was that you couldn't sit at the counter for a certain length of time (I forget how long they said). In my opinion, you should be able to take your time selecting your medicine. It shouldn't be an in the door out the door type process. The atmosphere was boring, dull, and too serious for my taste. I like to become friends with the people working the counter, or at least I'd like to be able to get advice from them or hold a nice conversation. It put me off that they had a "menu" that barely had all their products on it, and that you were expected to have studied before you went up to get your medicine. One of the strains I was really hoping for was actually out of stock, but still on the "menu", so I was frustrated.. If you want good quality medicine and don't care about the vibe of the place, or demeanor of the people serving you, then this place is great for you. Also, some strains had pretty low prices, but only a couple.

These guys have such a good selection, staff, and quality that every time I pass through San Francisco I have to stop here. Their buds are the frostiest I have ever gotten from a club, the buds looked like they were covered in fur. This club provides the standard medical quality. Prices are relatively high but for good reason: the quality is so much better than other places I have found. What really impressed me was their attitude: They take care of their patients needs first.

I feel like I'm in the wrong place when I go here-- they've got it looking like a fancy cosmetics shop or something, too froo-froo and uptight for me. The menu does have very excellent, detailed reviews of their strains, though, and it's a good place for trying out something new.

best dispensary in the bay area

I've only been once, so limited experience, but I liked it. They were patient with me while I studied the menu and tried to figure out what I wanted. Nice spot, can't wait to go again.

This place is great and their prices have improved somewhat since my first visit. The service is great most of the time but it can be a little snooty sometimes.

I came in with my husband for the first time and we both agree: We love the space, Renee was my bud tender and she was very knowledgeable, friendly and extremely helpful in making my selection. Definitely will be coming back.

Great atmosphere, 1x1 service, friendly yet professional setting. Very knowledgable & friendly staff. Great selection, hides their CBD off the menu to reserve for needy patients, great freebies ($85 spent gets you free pre-roll, point system for free gift certificate, holiday deals, etc.). This place also holds free classes and talks about the medicine. My only complaint is the suggested donation amounts. I think this is the most expensive club I've been too, but great quality & overall experience

A model of how things should and will be, redolent of the sort of small-town friendly and attentive pharmacy I grew up with. The staff is also knowledgeable, and jocular, their spirit reflected in the faces of fellow clients.

I loved the location, the atmosphere, the comfortable, well furnished, and very good looking facility. The black and white wood walls and floor make you feel as if your at a nice small restaurant. The staff was patient, curious and very friendly. They where also knowledgeable and could easily answer any and all questions. They quality of all their products was excellent and they have a wide selection of products at a decent range of prices but they tend to be s bit on the expensive side at times. This has been my go favorite and steady dispensary since I got my card 6 months ago and they also offer a veterans discount and have special promotions and veterans club area of their site so if your a vet like me definitely check it out. You just need your VA ID card or DD214. The only place I like better than here and whose selection,price range and more I like just a bit more is the Barbary coast, where even their $45 1/4 where better in quality than the $40-$45 8ths I've seen at a handful of places and the staff & building are amazing similar to the apothecary

Have been a patient at Apothecarium for over two years and have not been to a dispensary with better quality and better service and patient care/services love everyone there definitely go to the Apothecarium if you are in the Bay Area and don't mind donating a little more to have the highest quality medicine selection in SF

I have mixed feelings on this one. The guy handling all the paperwork was very snarky. He caught himself a couple times but it still was unnecessary. The guy that helped us was very nice and informative. But a couple of the other guys that I overheard was snarky too. The decor was nice. But the location is small and not a lot of sitting area. The selection was good. The quality so far seems good as well.

Just so you know, this was the first place I went to after getting my card. That said, I really can't imagine any place living up to the ambiance and helpfulness that I found at the Apothecarium. I will try other places but they definitely set a high bar.
