A type of portable dab rig used to vaporize cannabis concentrates. Nectar collectors have a vertical design that looks like a straw. The body is made of glass or silicone, and the tip is made of titanium or quartz, which is heated with a torch or electric power, and then used to inhale concentrate.
“We need a torch to use my nectar collector.”
How to use a nectar collector?
A nectar collector is similar to a dab rig and simple to use. Using one differs from traditional dabbing in an important way: Instead of loading concentrate into a nail in a dab rig and heating it, the tip of the nectar collector is heated and brought to the concentrate.
It’s important to make sure that the surface on which the concentrates rests is able to withstand the extreme heat from the tip. Silicone is the preferred material used to hold concentrates when using a nectar collector. Most people will dab it off a silicone mat or directly from a silicone storage container.
As the hot tip comes into contact with the concentrate, the concentrate melts and is inhaled through, as if sucking through a straw. Remember that the tip of the nectar collector will be hot after you finish inhaling, so be sure to have a safe place to put it for it to cool down. Some models include water filtration to help cool the smoke before it hits your mouth.
What are the benefits of a nectar collector?
When dabbing, a nectar collector is discreet and easy to use. They are small enough to fit in a pocket or small bag, however, like any dab rig, you still need a torch or other heat source.
Nectar collectors are also extremely easy to clean. Unlike a full-size dag rig that can have large and intricate parts, a nectar collector can easily be cleaned with a cotton swab or submerged in isopropyl alcohol.
