High DIY: Rejuvenate Your Skin With a Cannabis-and-Yogurt Face Mask

Published on July 28, 2017 · Last updated July 28, 2020

Cannabis has long been known as an anti-inflammatory, and THC and CBD have shown promise for treating an array of skin conditions and keeping skin healthy. To squeeze out the best beauty benefits from this incredible plant, consider a cannabis-infused face mask.

Inspired by turmeric-based Haldi, a paste used in Indian wedding ceremonies for cleansing, this mask is meant to reveal glowing skin and a clearer complexion. So whip up a batch of cannabis-infused coconut oil, make this easy DIY infused mask recipe, and get ready for clearer, smoother skin.

Benefits of a Cannabis and Yogurt Face Mask

First, what makes this face mask beneficial?

Yogurt contains lactic acid which acts as a brightening agent for skin, so it’s not uncommon to see it used as a base in many DIY masks. Reach for a full-fat cup for its additional moisturizing qualities as well as its ability to keep vibrant turmeric from staining your skin—the spice is fat-soluble, so you’ll want it to bind to the fat in the yogurt (and not to your pores) for easier clean-up.

Turmeric isn’t just a vehicle for flavorful dishes—this bright spice has a wide array of benefits that can make you feel healthier inside and out. When applied to the skin, it can even out tone and soothe irritation through its active compound curcumin (which gives turmeric its orangey color). Added bonus: Turmeric is a wonderful collagen booster, so not only will you get clearer skin when using it, you’ll also receive a youthful flush and shallower wrinkles.

Raw honey’s skin healing properties are no joke. This sweet yet sticky treat contains many enzymes that work to smooth fine lines and heal acne scars. Myriad studies have been conducted on honey’s complexion saving components and they all turn up positive, so give it a chance to beautify your skin. Grab a jar from a beekeeper in your area to support your local economy.

Infused coconut oil has all the benefits of THC paired with the highly moisturizing and anti-fungal elements of coconut oil. To avoid clogging pores, don’t use too much—we recommend using a quarter of a teaspoon on the first try, and if you think your skin can handle it, pump it up to half a teaspoon next time.

Pro Tip: Before applying this mask, grab an old t-shirt in case the paste drips. Turmeric stains can be difficult to lift from fabrics and you won’t want your favorite shirt to get any orange marks.
