4 Fancy Recipes to Dress Up Your Cannabutter

Published on July 12, 2017 · Last updated January 10, 2023

It’s always a good idea to keep a batch of cannabutter on hand—whether you melt it into peppery mashed potatoes, spread it over fluffy pancakes, or slather your grilled corn on the cob, keeping it around is the easiest way to enjoy an edible whenever you wish. But let’s be honest—on its own, this most basic of infused toppings can get a little boring. Many people don’t enjoy the flavor of cannabis that comes through, either.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon cannabutter
  • ½ teaspoon loose lavender petals
  • 1 teaspoon honey

Directions

  1. Soften butter to desired consistency.
  2. Stir in honey and lavender petals.
  3. Enjoy!

Tip: Feel free to use infused honey over cannabutter for easier dosing—or use both to up the potency.

Roasted Garlic and Chive Cannabutter

(Adrienne Allen/Leafly)

Perfect for cheesy biscuits or piping-hot baked potatoes, you can’t go wrong with roasted garlic and a touch of chive. Be the best cannabis host around by leaving these savory pats next to dinner plates for your (cognizant!) guests to enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon cannabutter
  • 1 head of garlic
  • ½ teaspoon chives
  • Olive oil

Directions for Roasted Garlic

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Peel garlic bulb (leaving clove skins intact) and cut enough from the top of the bulb to exposing the insides of the individual cloves.
  3. Cut side up, place garlic bulb in baking pan and drizzle olive oil over cloves. Rub the oil into each clove, cover with foil, and bake for approximately 30 minutes or until the cloves feel soft when pressed.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool.

Directions for Butter

  1. Soften cannabutter to desired consistency
  2. Remove one clove of roasted garlic and mash in a small dish. Add chives and mix until combined.
  3. Mix cannabutter and chive-garlic mash together thoroughly.
  4. Enjoy!

Pro tip: You can either mix up a larger batch of this butter to use the full bulb of garlic, or save it for other delectable cannabutter combinations such as roasted garlic and rosemary cannabutter.

Raspberry Jam Cannabutter

(Adrienne Allen/Leafly)

One of our simpler gourmet-ified recipes, this sweet little number is just what you’ll want for warm scones or fresh-baked bread.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon cannabutter
  • 1–2 teaspoons raspberry jam

Directions:

  1. Soften cannabutter to desired consistency.
  2. Mix in raspberry jam.
  3. Enjoy! (See, we told you it was easy.)

Pro Tip: It doesn’t take much jam to truly flavor your butter, so play around with the amount (and flavors!) to get the perfect butter-to-jam ratio.

*Note: No matter how good it tastes, the amount of cannabutter you consume should always be modified based on the strength of your base cannabutter and the potency you desire. Dosing homemade edibles can be tricky (click here to learn why), so the best way to test for potency is to start with one portion of a serving, wait one to two hours, then make an informed decision on whether to consume more. Always dose carefully and listen to your body, and never drive under the influence of cannabis.
