PCs Continue to Probe Government About Canopy Deal in Newfoundland

The opposition asked at House of Assembly proceedings this week if government representatives had met with the numbered company that owns the land that Canopy Growth is leasing, suggesting the Liberal government may have made an arrangement to acquire provincial land on the cheap. The government denied the accusations.

Montreal Florists Inundated With Customers Seeking Cannabis

Montreal florist Le Pot de Fleurs (The Flower Pot) reports that it’s been deluged by inquiries from people seeking pot. The shop owners told the Montreal Gazette that “It seems that anyone who has ‘pot’ in their name is also on websites like ‘weed stores near me.’ For the uninitiated, the SQDC is the only legal retailer in the province.

The Future of Cannabis Retail Sparks Surveys in Ontario Cities

Cities across Ontario are launching public consultations in advance of the Jan. 22 deadline to opt into the province’s cannabis retail model. In Guelph, the city has launched an online survey to gauge how residents feel about cannabis retail stores in city boundaries. Meanwhile, Sudbury has launched a platform dubbed Over To You.

Saskatchewan First Nation Passes Its Own Cannabis Law, Opens First Store

Muscowpetung First Nation approved its own Cannabis-Hemp Act and opened a recreational cannabis store on the reserve this week. The First Nation community situated 60 km north of Regina does not have a permit for cannabis retail from the province, and according to MBC Radio, Saskatchewan’s Justice Minister Don Morgan has deemed the store illegal.

CALGARY — On this weekend from Nov. 18-21, at the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino on the Tsuut’ina Nation, this cannabis conference bills itself as the first “to feature leading Indigenous experts from the medical, legal, and business communities with proven experience in cannabis and hemp.”

TORONTO — Refreshingly, this attraction has nothing to do with cannabis at all, and yet it seems tailored towards cannabis consumers in every way. Toronto’s newly opened Museum of Illusions bills itself as a “fascinating world of illusions,” and seems like an ideal activity to try high.
