More about cannabis seeds

Browse a wide selection of feminized and auto-flowering cannabis seeds from the best seed banks and companies near you. Use feminized seeds to ensure the plant is a female (and can bud). Select auto-flowering seeds to remove the need for triggering flowering manually.

Frequently asked questions about cannabis seeds

Feminized seeds are seeds that only grow female plants.

Why is growing only female weed plants important?

The female plants produce the buds. Male plants do not. If male plants are present, they will fertilize the female plants which in turn will start producing seeds. Seeds are good for growing but bad for smoking. If you plan on smoking or processing your weed into extracts, you don’t want seeds.

Autoflowering seeds will produce weed plants that flower, or bud, automatically at a certain age. Usually budding is triggered by a change in the amount of light the plant receives. Think of the change from Summer to Autumn when days become shorter, less hours of daylight trigger some plants to start flowering. When not growing autoflowering plants, indoor growers may switch from a 20 hours a day light cycle to a 12 hour a day light cycle to trigger budding for example. However, the costs of using autoflowering weed plants are smaller harvests and less potent buds compared to plants that are not autoflowering.

Growing cannabis from seeds versus from a clone will make your cannabis plant less susceptible to disease due to the genetic variation you get from having 2 parent plants. If you plan on cross breeding yourself, you will need to get familiar with growing with seeds. Plus, clones may not be available in your area.

Starting your grow with weed seeds is harder than using clones as the seeds will need to be germinated, which is an extra step. Newly germinated sprouts are also very fragile and it can be difficult to get them going.

Weeds seeds are legally considered to be the same as any ordinary cannabis plant. This means that if cannabis plants are illegal in your state, so are cannabis seeds.
