NETA - Northampton (Rec)

The products they sell are top notch. So overall, you can't go wrong getting marijuana from them. The wait in line was more than an hour during the middle of the day on a Friday, which isn't anyone's fault, since the demand is so high and they are working as fast as they can. But it's cold up there in the winter, so dress warmly. I'd hate to show up on a weekend day. One problematic issue is that they are overcharging for their product and obviously turning a huge profit doing so. When you do finally manage to get inside after waiting forever in line, you'll notice how slick everything is, how nicely the store is designed, and you know the owner is living on easy street. A lot of money went into the design. Also, the packaging for much of the merchandise is unnecessarily fancy; again, there's no need to make shiny boxes and containers with pretty logos. Just package good product and lower the prices some. We The prices are outrageous. The second problem is with parking. It's almost impossible to park anywhere near the dispensary. NETA made a huge mistake in opening the business in the location they did. It backs up traffic, it bothers neighbors, it requires cops to block streets and stand around all day (soaking up taxpayer money, probably causing the price of the product to be raised to pay for the cops), it makes trying to find a place to park a nightmare. I drove all the way up from NJ (where Big Brother still demonizes weed as if it's a nuclear weapon) and after a five-hour drive did not appreciate having to circle the block numerous times and then finally park next to a sign that said "Please don't park here unless you're a resident," simply because I couldn't find anywhere else within a mile to park. In a nutshell: They sell fantastic product, they overcharge like you wouldn't believe, it's in a horrible location, and the wait is outrageous. But if you're like me and can't find good weed anywhere else, then just grin and bear it, because the merchandise is worth it.

Orange Cookies

My girlfriend and I tried it while lying in bed on a Saturday afternoon, and we were immediately struck by how quickly it diminished our anxiety, something both of us struggle with. This is one of the most obvious characteristics of Orange Cookies. It works to create a buffer between your mind and any negative thoughts that might plague you. My girlfriend mentioned that it'd be the ideal strain for going to a party, which truly took me aback, because she hates, fears, and avoids going to parties due to her severe social anxiety. When she said this, I double-checked to make sure my ears weren't playing tricks on me, and when she reassured me that her anxiety was practically non-existent, my heart swelled with joy. It's a particularly delightful strain because while it encourages safe, stress-free conversation and significantly diminishes social anxiety, it also allows you to pull out of your head, if you want, and focus exclusively on the body, which my girlfriend and I did while making sweet, passionate love. We connected physically and emotionally in a profound way as we were able to escape our normally electrified minds and simply enjoy the feel of our bodies being one. This is also a good strain for pain -- at the time of taking it I had a broken rib and she a torn abdominal muscle (what are the odds?) -- and yet we were still able to make rather passionate love without having the normally sharp pains be too much of a deterrent for such an endeavor. And yet while it dulls physical pain, it isn't at all sedating. We're both creative types, and I wouldn't say this strain is particularly conducive for artistic creation. It wouldn't necessarily deter you from writing or painting or any other art form; it' just seems to encourage socialization, and outward connection, be it talking or making love, rather than focusing on something like the creation of art. It'd be a great strain to use before giving a speech or before an interview, as it really calms you down but doesn't impair cognition or linguistic functioning. It's at once relaxing and clarifying, and for many people, I'd imagine it'd boost self-confidence. Overall, this strain provides mental clarity and positive feelings; it greatly diminishes anxiety; it is mildly energizing yet not at all buzzy; and it allows for great verbal and physical conversations. A little bit of cotton mouth is an insignificant price to pay for this exquisitely crafted hybrid.
