Ghost Train Haze provides a very cerebral high: creative, uplifting and energetic. Definitely a day time indulgence. Ive smoked some after a second shift day on a few occasions and was up all night cleaning my house and watching nature documentaries.
It has a delectable citrus-like aroma and is very, very strong.
This is a bit of a two part review. As a recreational customer, I have been here twice since they opened.
My first impression: I was one of the first people in line on opening day. Got there at 6am and was maybe 30th in line tops. It was very cold and raining and NETA personnel were out going up and down the line all morning offering coffee, cocoa, and pastries to everyone waiting. They also were often communicating updates on the opening time as well as procedures they had to go through that could potentially delay that opening. Upon opening, the line moved at a pretty reasonable pace and spirits were high the whole time.
Entering the establishment was almost breathtaking. The interior design and decor are very modern and an honestly beautiful aesthetic. It feels very modern, almost futuristic. Very sleek and professional. I was immediately seen by a member of the team who was incredibly helpful in answering my questions. I have never used a vape pen of any kind before and wanted to hear the pros and cons between brands as well as how to use, charge, and refill the device. It was a very comforting atmosphere all around. I decided on my vape (I got the red Rubi, but it was a toss up between that and the Apex) and was on my way. The whole in-store process was maybe 10 total minutes.
The second time I went was just this past Monday (Dec 3, 2018). This time I went a little later in the morning than on opening day, around 10am, and was incredibly surprised to find there was no line what-so-ever. Got to the store, gave my ID to the people at the door, and once again was in and out of the store in a matter of minutes. This time was a trip to grab some flower. I grabbed the Jack Frost which, being honest, smelled absolutely amazing (props to whoever bred and grew that beauty). Once again, everyone was warm, welcoming, and happy as could be.
I'm a big fan of this place and look forward to many more future visits.
A quick For What It's Worth: The prices currently are definitely high, but this was the same on the West Coast in their first few years. Once the supply outweighs the demand we'll be seeing inexpensive top shelf weed and that'll take less time than it took for the CCC to get these shops open in the first place ;)
Purple Punch is a delightfully delicious Indica strain that works wonders in curbing symptoms of Anxiety and Depression.
The flavor, for me personally, is a bit difficult to nail down. It is VERY strong, both in taste and in smell, and while it certainly has elements of grape/grapefruit/citrus-y flavors, it's hard to say which one takes over. Imagine blending up a handful of skittles and trying to describe the flavor. It's not a bad flavor by any means, just complicated to describe. In fact it's to this day the best tasting herb I've ever had.
I think the best way of describing the high you get from Purple Punch is medicinal. Suffering from pretty severe depression and regular panic attacks, this strain is a godsend. The most prominent effects I noticed were Euphoria and the giggles. While under the effects of this strain, I was incredibly jovial and found even the most mundane of topics both enthralling and hilarious. It should also be noted, however, that this particular strain can make you considerably aroused at times.
In terms of visual appeal, this strain is absolutely loaded with trichomes. To be frank, it looked almost like someone covered my buds in sugar it was so prominent. Furthermore, the buds were a lovely compliment of interwoven shades of purple and green. Certainly this is a strain you could feature on a magazine cover.
While there were practically no negatives, there was bit of the high that, for me personally, was just a bit "off" of the whole experience. More-so at the beginning than at any other point during the high, this gets you right in the head, for an albeit short amount of time. I think it's potentially enough to put people off to the strain as a whole, but for me personally it was more of a speedbump, if you will, than anything really negative about the strain as a whole. To elaborate a little, I could definitely feel the high, relatively heavily at that, right in the front of my face for what I would equate to be maybe 15 to 30 minutes after smoking. Once that initial "Punch" from the Purple Punch wore off though, it was definitely one of the most pleasant Indica highs I've ever had the fortune of experiencing.
